Why the fudge did I buy this!? | 2.3 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Well, to be frank, there is only 1 thing I can like about this. It has Mario and others throwing vegetables at enemies. But it has 1 SNES improvement as well. You get to start from the exact level you were on after saving unlike the SNES one where you just start from the world you just saved on.THE BAD: The bosses are, well, all stupid. I, well, seriously think that this was too, uhh, weird. SUMMARY: Lastability: 5/10. Well, the bosses are a little challenging. Otherwise, face it, you ain't playing this for long, man! Graphics: 4/10. Not very, umm, good. I just don't like it. Sound: 3/10. Beeda beet beet vet beeta beet bveeet. Well, I just can't stand the sound. Gameplay: 7/10. Yeah, you sumply walk around with your 1 HP. You look for another HP and then you look for a potion to find a 3rd HP. Look for another and try for a 4th HP. But, the aim is to kill ***** (no spoiling, hah ha) at the end of the level. That's sumply it. Overall: 2.3/5.0 I don't think my calculator's working, but that's what it had. Anyway, there are better GBA games (NOT POKE'MON). |

Why Must the Characters Sound So Gay?!!! | 3.0 0 comments |
by InvaderHera from , , | Aug 21, 2004 |
THE GOOD: This is almost exactly like the original game, but I'm able to get a lot farther in it. I like how you can choose between four different characters. Yay for Toad!THE BAD: The sound effect things are so annoying. All the characters have to make horrible little sounds whenever they do anything. Why? Why must they tamper with things that are already good? Why cruel world, why? *cowers in a dark corner of the room* SUMMARY: I like the music in this game, but I can't turn up the volume, or else I'll hear those horrible characters make horrible sounds. Oh, such horrible sounds they were. So horrible, like the invention of...um...tight pants! Yes! Tight pants are horrible! I know most of this review is going to be used up explaining those character's noises, but it's not worth getting the game because of it. I'd rather listen to the badger, badger, mushroom, mushroom song for ten days straight rather than hear, for example, the whiney, cutesy sound of Birdo once you kill her. *shiver* Anyway, this game is easier than the Super Nintendo thing, but still challenging at times. I think the original version is more worth it. At least you can listen to the music without wanting to jam a sharpened pencil into your ears. |

THE GOOD: The different characters had different strengths and weaknesses Good boss design, which took more than just button bashing to beatTHE BAD: Some parts of the game were too easy SUMMARY: This was one of the first Mario games I’d played in years because I’ve never owned a Nintendo console. I was a Sega person when I was younger and after that I swapped to Sony. So any Nintendo games I play are rare nowadays. My brother got this for the Game Boy though and I played it and found the game to be very enjoyable.
You can pick to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad or Princess Peach. Each character has different statistics, which do make a difference in the game. Mario is well rounded (in more ways than one), Luigi has a high jump ability at the expense of others, Toad is very powerful but can’t jump that high and Peach is low on all stats but can float down when she jumps allowing her to travel further in the air. I personally played the whole game as Mario because his average ability in everything was more than enough for me although in retrospect having a lot of jump would have helped in some parts.
I can’t even remember if there was a storyline for this game but if there was I can’t remember it. Basically all you have to do is get to the end of each level and ultimately beat the end boss to win the game. One of the things that impressed me so much about this game was the way you had to do the levels. You couldn’t blindly charge in through all parts of the level. At times you did need to stop for a second to see what was going on and decide when the right moment to go ahead was. Also, the bosses required you to work out what their weak spots were. One boss in particular springs to mind where you had to utilise overhead ladders to avoid some attacks was one of my favourite ones in this game. The end boss is one of the better ones I’ve ever seen. Not only did it take a while to navigate the last level, the end boss was no walkover. It took me a while to work out the weak spot and exploit it. Even when you do that you’re only halfway there.
This game is different to other Mario games I remember playing. The fact that there are 4 characters to play as adds more life to the game. And there is actually another mode you can play which can also be played with other people via a link cable. In this mode you have to beat as many levels of enemies as you can. This mode does feature at some points in the main game and provides fun for a while to see how far you can get.
Despite the fact that I don’t remember too many things being amazing in this game I did enjoy playing it. There were plenty of enemies to defeat along the way and some of the levels took a long time to get round despite the fact you could see where you wanted to go in the same screen at times. A game for Mario fans anywhere in my opinion. |

THE GOOD: Well the good thing about this is that you get to play 4 players and i liekt eh characters selection for each level. Also i like how they made the bosses.THE BAD: The bad was that the graphics were poor and it need better stuff in it. SUMMARY: Anyways i like how the made the old one it had better graphics then this one has and it was a very fun game and still is.
I find this game fun to but sometimes i don't. I wish that it had better handling with the characters.
Well i found looks of stuff good about this game like how the levels look in the game and how hard the make it just like in the orginal version.
Anyways i would have to say i give it a three out of a five cause of lack of graphics. Even though it had great characters and how they made the levels and bosses. |

THE GOOD: Four playable and varied characters Nice and colorful graphics Great voices Two games in one An extra challenge-modeTHE BAD: Too short A little bit primitive level-design Mario Brothers is short and reppetive SUMMARY: Graphics: Clear, sharp and colorful, not the best on the machine, but still good.
Sound: The sound-effects are loud and clear, while the different voices sounds really great, making good use of the GBA hardware.
Gameplay: Control is good, bosses are cool and the game is fun, but the level-design is primitive for a Mario-game.
Lifespan: Two games in one, but one is very short and the other is not that long either. Challenge-mode and multiplayer keeps you playing, though.
Overall: The weakest of the Mario Advance series, but still good fun. |

Join Mario and his friends as they go up against wart's army by picking up and using vegetables as lethal weapons. Classic Mario fun... | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: The fun gameplay, the great graphics, multi-player, its mario! What else could you ask for?THE BAD: Too easy... SUMMARY: I found this to be one of the better game boy games out there. It had 2 modes to choose from - multi-player and single player mode which is the same mode as the first mario game that was released on the SNES back in the early 90's. It was a fairly long game with lots of challenges that will keep you guessing. But overall, it had a lot of easyness to the game. Its obviously aimed toward a younger audience which is why I assume its a bit easy. But, its still a great game and should be fun for gamers of all ages.
Overall Outcome: Buy It! |

Super Mario Advance | 3.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: It's MarioTHE BAD: It's Mario SUMMARY: By now everyone knows what makes a Mario game good, and what makes it bad, the guy has been around for nearly 20 years now. This game is pretty fun, but it's not really anything new. It's NEW, in the sense that it's a revamped version of the Super Mario Bros 2 on the NES (which was awful), but then again, it's very similar to the version made for the "Super Mario All-stars" compilation for the SNES.
But, good graphics (for a handheld console), that classic Mario tune, (you know the one I mean) and ridiculously oversized enemies make this game worth a few hours of play at least. |
