Sonic Advance: A great game! | 4.0 0 comments |
by Neon the Chao from Springfield, MA, USA | Sep 2, 2005 |
THE GOOD: This game has huge levels, a link up option, and a Tiny Chao Garden! Another thing I like is the character combos. Like with Sonic, if you press B once, you do a somersault. (Wow...) But if you press it twice, Sonic does a somersault and then a cartwheel. And if you press B 3 times, he does a somersault, a cartwheel, and then it looks like he's trying to cleat someone. And if you press B+B+A, Sonic does his somersault and cartwheel and the jumps backwards! It looks really cool. And with Knuckles, when you press B 3 times, he does 2 punches, and then an uppercut with fire coming from his fists! Now in the Tiny Chao Garden, you can play with, feed and love your own pet Chao! A Chao is a small creature, who looks kind of like this: o ^ (00) < > -- You can even hook up to the GameCube (You need Sonic Adventure 2: Battle or Sonic Adventure DX) and transfer Chao! Letting you get special Chao in either Chao Garden! Also the sound and music are great, and the graphics look good, too!
THE BAD: Well, this game really takes away the urge to play more when you beat the game. Plus, if you don't have a GameCube and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle or Sonic Adventure DX, the Chao is really useless. And Angel Island Zone has too many drop-offs (Areas at the bottom of the level with no ground, so if you fall into one, you fall to your death. Yikes!) Probably the worst thing is the 1-pak 2 player mode. It's so BORING! All you do is collect rings! Sure, your opponents can knock into you and make you lose rings, but that stinks! SUMMARY: But I still give this game a good 4.0 because, well, it does have quite a few bad things, but much more good things. Oh, and I forgot two more combos: When playing as Amy, press B 3 times. She will swing her hammer like normal twice, then swing it in a different way. And if you jump(A) and press Down+B she will do her spinning hammer attack. Well, thanks for reading my review on Sonic Advance, and I hope it comes in handy! |

THE GOOD: It is a brilliant game, for any sonic lovers out there, this is the game for you. It has sharp graphics, good gameplay, and the day you get it, you won't be off it for hours. It has good bosses, and is a wonderful game.THE BAD: After you have completed the game with one character, it gets boring doing the same with every other character. Also, some of the bossess are a bit tedious, and some of the levels seem to repeat themselves a bit. Also most of the levels you can complete with your eyes closed. I tried it myself. SUMMARY: All sonic games are good, and this game expecially is a good game for the Game boy Advance. It has sharp graphics, fun levels, and endless fun! Doing the levels with knuckles is the easiest, but if you like a challenge, then sonic by far is the best. Once again, a lovely new title to the sonic series! |

Great game | 5.0 0 comments |
by Prime Hunter from a city, , a country | Feb 21, 2005 |
THE GOOD: I loved the game (because I love sonic) (I remember back in 4th or 5th grade I used to play it everyday), plus I get to be Knucles (call me crazy but he is my favorite character), Plus there are a lot of levels (and I also had the cheat code, so I could play with Sonic and Tails at the same time.) This is one of my favorite games right after Metroid Prime, MP Echoes, MP Hunters, and Super Smash Bros. meele... SUMMARY: I love Sonic, So I love this game. (I even made my avatar by repainting a sonic sprite), You can see it by visiting my page (www.freewebs.com/alphacomix). Anyway If you like Sonic games: BUY IT, if you want cool graphics: DONT BUY IT.. I dont care about the graphics myself. I loved the game (but I like playing with my dog more)

An exelent Game. A GBA masterpiece | 4.8 0 comments |
by Chaos Storm from Tree Leaves, Sector 5, Planet Vegeta | Apr 12, 2004 |
THE GOOD: This game stays true to the original side scrolling sonic Games. Also, this game has added quite a few nice features. Amy Rose makes a comeback, the levels are wonderful and creative. The bosses are a bit more challenging than others from the originals. Hunting for Chaos Emeralds is fair game. Just find a Special Spring. A must have for Sonic Fans. And if the above doesnt get, you this might. There is a Chao Garden that you dont have to unlock. But you do in the sequel.THE BAD: Not much I can say here. However, I wont put this in the good even though I think it is. Amy Rose cant spinball. I think it makes the LVs mre challenging, but good is in the eye of the beholder. SUMMARY: Sonic Advance 1 satys true to the original games and (as I stated earlier) is a must have. As far as most GBA games go, this one is better than most of the new games, and quite few of the old ones. I would take Sonic advance 1 over Metroid Zero Mission (still a realy kick az game) or Mario and Luigi any day. If you are in for a long car ride and have some cash, I reccomend 2 GBA games. Sonic Advance 1 and sonic Battle. |

THE GOOD: It's Sonic!THE BAD: It is rather boring. SUMMARY: It's an OK game..not great though. Because even though it is Sonic. And IMO Sonic is the greatest Video Game Legend ever, the game itself gets boring after a while. The levels are basically all the same! So if you can handle that, go ahead and buy it. But if you can't don't buy it! And remember, I never said it was a bad game...but I never said it was great either. |

Sonic Advance | 4.0 0 comments |
by sonicunearthed from Perth, WA, | Mar 10, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Exciting game, and not just an emulated version of an older game.THE BAD: Gets a tad boring once you clock it! SUMMARY: I would highly recommend Sonic Advance. Using all new graphics and animations, this game is quite interesting. Apart from a few faults (Which every sonic game has), it is a great game and almost guarantees hours of satisfaction! Great graphics and sound make this game 'Way past cool'. |

THE GOOD: So, this is the final finished product? I have somethings to say: Easy, short, chao...boring.THE BAD: Oh, you'll see. SUMMARY: Look at it this say: Sega's productions have been far from good, especially them Sonic productions-their main industry impact. HOw can they possibly go down at this stage in their process of becomming world-wide divisions, giving games everyplace? But there are some major flaws in the game.
For starters, it's way too short. I finished it, well, all the stages, but even though the mini-games are way-past fun and challenging and the productions that Eggman comes up with kewl, I don't believe this is Sega's productions. It must've been dubbed.
Also, Sonic isn't too fast. Unlike in Sonic Advance 2, you're so...so un-quick.
The Chao Garden is, let's see...from 1-10, I'd say a -11 (the scale shrunk from boredom). Who needs to be a hand, I must ask? |

Sonic on Nintendo? Cool! | 3.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: The sprites are better than old Sonic Games, the Levels are less "I want to chuck this cart out the win-doww..." sort of thing.THE BAD: Its REALLY repetitive, both meaning its levels, and its likeness to old Sonic games. Also its short. SUMMARY: Sonic games are known for lasting a while. Sonic 1 went on for ages, and was tough to beat because it was without a save feature. Sonic 2 followed this trend, but getting the emeralds was harder, there was an extra emerald, and there was an insentive to get them this time: Super Sonic. And Sonic 3 was just plain long, but at least it had a save feature. Sonic Advance breaks this trend, and is amazingly short. The game designers also thought they could put a whole heap of 'tricks' in, and the game would be better. Grinding is cool the first time, but gets boring soonafter. Nintendo may think the gameboy advance is SOOOO great, because it kicks the trend of Sonic moving too fast for the screen (except in one very rare occasion), but now Sonic doesn't feel as fast. Also, all the other characters play the exact same story as Sonic, meaning you'll be bored with the other characters before you've even played as them. Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but Nintendo could've worked harder on it. Also, the Chao Garden SUCKS BAD!!! But its Sonic, and that was enough to keep me hooked for about a month. Blockbuster video rent this game... maybe a better option than buying it..... |

THE GOOD: The graphics are good and the sound quality isn't exactly perfect, but it shows Sonic Advance's quality very well.THE BAD: The chao can't evolve into grown-ups without being traded to SA2B. SUMMARY: I think that this game is really worth playing. Of course, they go spoiling Robotniks scheme's again, but there's a charm to the game, even though it IS 2D. It has many different qualities and unique stages that no game maker can think of! Very impressive work! |

Even if it starts with ADV, it's more like the classic than Adventure series! | 4.9 0 comments |
by Rager from Belfast | Jan 21, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Graphics! Sounds! Gameplay! Pretty much everything! Fluid animation! Cracking music! Crisp gameplay!THE BAD: Not much, some controls, Special stage: you don't know if you're in front of the rings or not! And...I dunno! SUMMARY: If you preferred the original series (eg: Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles, etc...) then buy this! If you prefer the Adventure series, give it a look, I preferred the classic series. Another thing is...this game is longer than Sonic 3, but shorter than Sonic 1. Keep that in mind, because it dosn't take you long to finish it off! |
