Great Game ! | 4.9 0 comments |
by mettaur_15 from NYC, NY, United States | Aug 28, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Everything.THE BAD: Almost none, except one glitch which is when you go to the hospital without your monster, Holly will say something like this: (Your last monster's name such as Suezo), there is no point to go the hospital without your monster. SUMMARY: Like the previous MRA (Monster Rancher Advance), this is a great game for those who like raising monsters such as in Pokemon series. One very different detail between the two games (MRA and Pokemon) is that in MRA(2) you can actually "control" your monster's every moves inside and outside the battles - not just choose a move for your monster. I like everything about this game. Wait until you experience battling with your monsters and become one with them, although you can only raise one monster at a time. There are coaches available for better chances to raise better monsters with high stats. There are even super coaches, but I won't tell you know. You'll find them if you're lucky enough. You can also make your monster as a coach when its retired or before its retired as long its in B class or higher. Another cool thing about this game is your monster's traits. The traits are incredibly affecting how your monster will grom and how will they do in battles. This way, you'll be forced to think first before deciding to raise a monster. The graphic in this game is INCREDIBLY cool and beautiful. The sound effect is amazing plus you should observe the background of your ranch. It changes with the seasons, and every week isn't always the same background - so you won't be bored. The monsters are great and challenging to be raised. The stronger your monster, the more money you can earn by battling in tournaments. You can also explore 3 places that will be unlocked along with your progress in the game. You can find items and strays which can be your "soulmates" if you defeat them in the battle. You also have some rivals, which make the game even more interesting. Overall, I'd say this is a perfect game for you all out there old or young, guys or gals, etc. I'll guarantee you won't be disappointed with this game. Happy ranching!!!! |

LWW's MRA2 Review | 4.5 0 comments |

| This is an awesome game. Vastly improved over MRA(Monster Rancher Advance, to you uninformed). My main gripes are that the music is...well, MRA's was a lot better. And that they killed the look of the Dragons and Mews. They looked so much better in the last one. I guess that's what happens when you mess with a good thing. Anyway, I would seriously recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed MRA, and though it can be difficult to get started because of the complexity level, it adds wonderfully to the game's depth. After you've played this, MRA will seem overly simple and boring. They seem to set you up to fail, but all the more reason to be proud of yourself for doing well, right? |

This game is my first of the MR series and I love it! It is one of the best games that I have ever played! It is kind of like a Pokemon-like game. You have to raise your monsters and fight in battles. You don't travel around like an RPG though. You choose where you want to go from a menu and then you go there. You can take your monster to: -- The Studio, where you can combine your monster, freeze your monster, revive your monster, combine your monster with a friend's monster (via link cable), and even delete your monster. -- The Ranch, to train, fight in battles, spar, buy and use items, rest, and even fight stray monsters! -- The Hospital, to check your monster's health and remove unwanted traits. -- The Square, to fix or enlarge your barn to fit bigger monsters or have other special things happen. -- The AGIMA Center, where you can assign coaches to certain trainings, register your monster as a coach, retire your monster, and go exploring.
Some other places that you can go without your monster is to: -- The Shrine, where you can enter letters and numbers into a tablet to get a new monster or use your book of monsters to recreate one from the past.
Some other game features: >>This game does not have turn-based battling, but features a different type of battle system. It is very hard to explain, so you will just have to find out yourself! >>Over 500 monsters for you to collect, raise, combine, and trade! >>Compatability with the GameBoy Advance Link Cable so you can trade monsters, combine monsters, and even battle with a linked friend.
This is just naming a few. This game is definitly worth getting. It is one of the best games that I have played in a long time. |

Monster Rancher Advance 2, The Best Handheld MR Game! | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Beautiful art, lots of monsters, tons of storyline!THE BAD: Only on Game Boy Advance! SUMMARY: Tecmo's Monster Rancher Advance 2 borrows a little from all the previous 7 Monster Rancher games, and the result is a refreshingly new and complex game! Easy enough for kids to play, yet with features to satisfy the adult MR veteran, MRA2 really shines! Features: *512 monsters *Exploration of wilderness areas for items *Many types of monsters to unlock *Complex storyline (more than any other MR game ever!) *Hospital (monsters can get sick) *New coaching contract system *Super-Coaches *Monsters never die (you must retire them after a while) *Fun 2P mode for battling *1P tournament battles and stray monster battles *Monsters generated through words in the shrine, combining existing monsters, or carried over from Monster Rancher Advance.
I have played the game for over two months now, over 200 hours, and have yet to finish the storylines! |
