After being missing for a whole generation the galactic bounty hunter Samus Aran finally returned to our game systems, and her series has since taken two very different directions. The Gamecube saw the rise of her first person adventures, and while the Prime games weren't to everyone's tastes they were excellent titles. Long time fans may be please then to see the first GBA offering continue to move along the same direction the series started in. This is side scrolling adventuring Metroid style, and it does the series justice.
Due to storyline circumstances Samus starts off with very little in the way of abilities. Her primary means of combat is a fairly weak blaster, and through a combination of the D-Pad and a shoulder button lets you fire in 8 compass directions. She also has some basic actions like jumping, which is quite responsive.
One of the key traits of the series is acquiring new abilities, and Samus starts doing this early on. For combat you not only...
THE GOOD: Great game and pretty lengthy with alot of suprises. Can be linked up with Metroid Prime to unlock a bonus feature.
THE BAD: The graphics are ok but not great.
SUMMARY: Metroid Fusion is a good game for the Gameboy Advance and requires alot of brains to play through because some of the strategy ideas are mind blowing. The game is a pretty long game with lots of secrets including a link up that you can do to Metroid Prime to unlock a new bonus feature. The graphics on the game arn't that great but do not affect the gameplay in any way. the sound matches the visuals and suits the mood of the game all the way through. The layout of the screen is completly different to Metroid Prime but still very nice to play through although i have to say i'd prefer it if it was like Metroid Prime.
Overall it's a very good game and could keep you entertained formany hours, especially if you can't get through the strategy parts.
THE GOOD: Like the title it brings back fair memories of the old school Super Metroid, and I think thats awsome. You even get to still use the wall jump!
THE BAD: Too short.Thats it thats my only gripe,Some say the suit sucks but i dont care about that, this game is the shit!
SUMMARY: Metroid Fusion is my first(and only)gba game. With only playing this I can say this is one of the greatest games gba has to offer. The graphics were nicely done, especially the cutscenes. The gameplay is in some ways just like old school Super Metroid and in some ways it isnt.Like you still pick up diffrent suits and abilities but diffrently,You absorb them from something,I wont spoil it and tell you what or how though. Its all=so after defeating a boss is when you will be able to do this. Also whats diffrent is that you have to hold the R shoulder button to use missles, while in SM you could tap a button once(I forget which)and shoot missiles without holding...
THE GOOD: Great Graphics Decent difficulty level Decent, original story Controlling samus is flawless
THE BAD: Around 4 hours max first play through Too linear
SUMMARY: Metroid fusion- Prime may have had fans divided but everyone was looking forward to this- Developed by the people behind super metroid- and you can tell.
Graphics 10/10: Nintendo exceled themselves here- however I can hear them now- 'Its plain old 2d graphics, whats so special???' a few things are special actually- 1st up are the backgrounds- there is always something interesting to look at. 2nd is the animation- Top notch- it has an incredibly decent running animation. 3rd and finally is samus herself- both sides of her fusion suit look different and gives a sence of realism.
Sounds 8/10.
Not. As. good. As. super. Metroid.
gameplay 9/10:
Controlling samus is flawless, but you are always told what to do- giving it a sence...
THE GOOD: ~Great Story ~Great Weapons and Missions ~New and Old Creatures ~Graphics are ok
THE BAD: ~New Suit(I liked the Old one)
SUMMARY: This is the second Metoid game ive played and i thought it was very good. The story is very cool but you have to get a new suit. I liked the old suit a lot better.
There are many new creatures, but they kept some of the old ones as well. There are cool bosses to beat and you get moves after defeating each one, or you get power ups to moves you already have.
The graphics in it are awesome, and the sounds are very cool. There are many missions to go on, so you really wont be bored. There are many obstacles that you will encounter. Plus there's a new, very powerful creature that is tracking you...
Other than having a new suit, this game is really awesome.
Gameplay: 8/10
This was the first of the Metroid games that actually possessed a straight-forward plotline and objective. Unlike it's predecesors and well-known past styles, you were told what to do by a computer, and knew exactly what your purpose on the base was.
The action and strategy in combat is amazing and unmatched by all other Gameboy games. It's a side-scroller, with enviroment-manipulating gameplay and fast gunworks, as well as a large exploration basis. You're always on the search for upgrades essential to your progress.
Graphics: 10/10
Amazing Gameboy Advance graphics. Wonderful animation, great artwork for the brief "cutscenes", and an overall beautiful world to play in.
Sound: 9/10
Great music, it really is a wonderful ambience for the many worlds you venture through. The sounds of your weapons and the enemies is also very...
THE GOOD: Graphics are phenomanal for GBA game, so much detail and life. The story itself is pretty good, interestingtiwsts, nver too hard or too easy, the right balance. Music is awesome, some new and some from Metriod 1 I noticed. Good environments, each with it's own different hazards, good weapons to choose from.
THE BAD: The Freeze beam is only useable for the last boss>_< After you beat it, there's not much to do. Those are my only gripes.
SUMMARY: I never likes Metroid until I tried this game. I was blown away at the greatness of the game. Everything about it was cool, the nemies, bosses, hidden weapon ammo, the huge environment. It left me in awe. I think this game is even better than Metroid Prime! I really recommend it to anybody who's bored of the same things you probably already buy, this game is different in a good way.
THE GOOD: New suit, good story, new weapons, great music, cool new ennemies, and old ones too! What more could you want???
THE BAD: Though Samus returns with a new suit, not everyone likes it. Graphics aren't great... but they aren't bad either.
SUMMARY: Metroid 4 marked the new line of Metroid games in the year 2002 as the first Metroid game to be released in the new melenium. In this adventure, Samus ( the Heroine ) returns in a new suit ( yay? ) and is ordered to investigate an unknown explosion on a research station. Upon her arrival, it soon becomes clear that the entire station has been infected by parasites, and it's up to Samus to destroy them... or die trying.
This installement in the Metroid series came with new weapons, including the Diffusion missile. New ennemies, namely the X parasites. New challenges, new puzzles, new allies, and a great finish that will leave you speechless... or close to it,...
THE BAD: Like most Metroid games, it was relatively short
SUMMARY: Metroid Fusion is the long awaited sequel to Super Metroid. It continues on the Metroid series and brings along an all new threat, as well as a new friend for the Huntress.

Unlike other Metroid games, you don't get your power-ups by searching for them. You get your power-ups by either downloading data for them, or by absorbing the final form of each boss. The only items you actually search for are Energy Tanks, Missile and Power Bomb Expansions. Most of the power-ups from Super Metroid are back, along with a few new ones.

You face many new bosses, as well as some old ones. You encounter some old friends from Super Metroid as well. One of the most fascinating of these creatures is the SA-X, an evil clone of Samus at full power, that pursues you throughout the entire game.

The...
