THE GOOD: -Complete Rosters -Very nice looking football field -Excellent Situation and Two Miunte Drill ModesTHE BAD: -Iffy Player Graphics -Poor Commentary -Stat tracking during season only tracks team stats, no individual stats SUMMARY: It's obviously not as good as the console Madden 2005 but on a handheld, this is as good as it's going to get. The gameplay is Madden quality and the sound is a pretty accurate rendition of football sounds. But Madden 2005 also has a bunch of problems. For one, why do they even bother with the commentary? Honestly, alot of people are going to turn off the volume after hearing John Madden say "Boom, now where did that truck come from?" for the millionth time. There's like only 5 lines of commentary. Which is a shame since the rest of the sound (players tackling etc) is pretty good. Also, the player graphics are improved but could use a lot more work, but the playing field is really awesome looking. There's also one problem that bugs me the most. Often times, the referee will run into your pass routes. This blocks your receiver from getting to the ball. It's really frustrating to throw a seemingly perfect 3rd down pass but suddenly have the ref running out of no where and blocking your receiver from getting to the ball. I often wished I could have called pass interference on the ref. Also, the players sort of "glide" across the field. This makes even defensive lineman look like Olympic class sprinters.
If you don't have a GBC, PS2, or XBox, or a PC that meets the requirements, buy this game, it's the best that handhelds have to offer. If you do, then buy the console version instead. |
