THE GOOD: -300 Missions -Long game. -Lots of Weapons -Lots of Clan Members -Lots of Classes and Jobs -Different Battle AreasTHE BAD: Not much is bad about this game.
About the only thing is that the battles get repetitive. But evenetually you will be able to kill a whole enemy clan before they get a chance to even move if you play it right. SUMMARY: This game is amazing. I never played Final Fantasy in my life before and then my neighbor bought this game and said he liked it so i went out and bought it. It is amazing.
The game can be played for ages because after the story missions there are plenty of extra missions to do. Then after the extra missions you can do certain missions again and you can increase your characters levels and you can even increase the levels of certain equipment. It takes a while to increase the equipment but thats the fun of it. You can play this game forever and not get bored.
There is also a lot of classes of characters you can have in your clan. Then in those classes you can change jobs and have more variety in you clan. There are very dominate offensive jobs and there are defensive jobs. So you have full control over the customization of your clan. You can master abilities and use them at any time you want to. There are also special characters that you can get on your clan by doing certain missions and other secret characters that you have to get by taking certain thing with you on the missions.
Go out and Buy this game. It is endless fun.I have played for about 150 hours. A waste of time? Heck NO? |

THE GOOD: - Great Graphics for a GBA game - It's a very long game, keep you occupied for months! - I'm not a Final Fantasy fan by any means, but I still think this game is great! - More characters, weapons, items and missions than you could dream of.THE BAD: - Not that good a storyline I feel. 'The world has changed! OMG!', but the game is good anyway. - Laws can get really, REALLY, annoying. SUMMARY: I am by no means a fan of Final Fantasy, but I saw this game in the shop and thought, Well, I've heard good things about this game... It looks pretty good.. and most importantly, I have the cash. So I took a risk and bought it. A risk well taken! You see, from the moment I put the game in, I knew this would be good.
The opening level is something like a snowball fight, and at this point I was wondering what I had gotten myself into. But the game gets better.. much better.
You go through a world as a clan. Doing missions, getting more clan members, but most importantly, trying to get back to the real world. That is the main mission. More secrets and things get unvieled as you play the game, and also, the game gets better a you play it. Some missions are really hard and will keep you occupied for ages, but most of them are really fun.
This is probably the best Game Boy Advance game I have ever played, and will probably stay that way, therefore I reccomend this game to any GBA owner. Final Fantasy fan or not, this game is worth the money. Some parts can be difficult and challenging, but all in all, it is a very good game. |

THE GOOD: I love this game to bits, it has the best graphics in a Gameboy Advance game out so far, the levels are ver detailed, and the range of characters are awesome!THE BAD: There isn't anything bad about this game!
Well, in one of the levels, you can't pick up a power cell, and I alway's need it
But there isn't much that could flaw this game, it is too good! SUMMARY: I totally love this game, I reccomend that you get it now!
Overall a great game that will get you hooked even after the game is over so you can get secret characters. This is a great game to have for long trips like vacations or summer trips. Oh, also this is a game you won't regret to get because it can have 300 hours of gameplay just to get the last secret character and build up those secret items and getting them! So finally I give this game a 5.9! |

THE GOOD: interesting storyline good characters impressive battle system has a bit of replay value over 245 missions!THE BAD: very short LAWS game is rather easy or hard
SUMMARY: This game is one of the better games I've played. The storyline is impressive and in a wierd world you could see happen. The characters have great person alitys considering they are just sprites. The turn battle system has been done plenty of times but this game proves it has not been overdone by making it one of the most impressive battle systems yet. The replay value is there but rather hidden so after a few weeks you'll want to play it again. The number of missions is a overwhelming 300! there are a few flaws to the game however. It is short. There is no way around it. If you go though all the impotant missions only you will beatthegame in about 45 hours of playing. Laws are a bet overwhelming. If the main character disobeys one of the laws oyu'll get a game over. The game can be easy or hard depending on how well you level up oyur team. If you play every mission it will be easy and if you try to rushtohugh it will be pretty hard. Warror of dreams signing out. |

Intro
You know how Final Fantasy has a reputation for good RPGs? I didn't know that until recently, when I was looking for a new GBA game. I knew it had more than ten games but I hadn't looked into them. I was looking for strategy games and I found Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. As soon as I pushed the tiny cartridge into my GBA I knew how amazing it was.
Story: 7/10
If you were going to buy this for the story, I'm terribly sorry. It's another menial RPG plot, you know the kind where it's like ''Oh my goodness! The world changed, so now I have to go fight everyone!'' That sort of thing. I haven't gotten very far in the story, but the few twists and turns have made it somewhat interesting.
Graphics: 10/10
Because of my respect for the ratings system here at GameFAQs, I will not rate it with an 11. I would like to, though. This games graphics will make your jaw drop. Aside from a few things, like the inability for the sprites to face diagonally, it is colorful and interesting. Everything is vividly colored, and everything is a treat for the eyes. These are quite possibly some of the best graphics I have ever seen for a GBA game, seconded only to Golden Sun.
Sound: 9/10
The sound is amazing. The reason it only gets a 9 is mainly because of the music in the background. You could be fighting a bunch of assassins (bad guy connotation) and there would be an obnoxious, repetitive hunting song in the background. Even if the song is good, I grind my teeth in agony. However, the sound the units make is fantastic. Bows twang when arrows are being shot, swords clash. When people die, they let out a little plaintive scream. When the judge has to do something, he lets out a shrill whistle. Amazing...
Gameplay: 10/10
A 12 at the most. This is the reason I would ever play any RPG, because if it didn't have good gameplay, it would not be a video game, it would be an RPG. An example of this is how you can turn which way a unit faces. If he or she is attacked from behind, they have a much larger chance of getting hit then if they were attacked from the front. You can have spells target multiple units, units have traits such as Reflex (can't be hit my physical moves) and Block Arrows (self-explanatory). Also, the entire point of the game is to go to the pub, accept a mission and clear it. There are 300 missions in the entire game, so you have plenty of things to do. But the best parts are the judgment system and learning abilities. When a unit is equipped with a certain item, they will eventually master the spell the item teaches. Then, if you remove the item, they can use the spell. When they master a certain amount of abilities, they can move up to new jobs, like Monk moving up to Bishop. The judgment system is equally cool. There is a judge who presides in the match. He can move around dead bodies (which can be strategically used as obstacles), but he also enforces ''laws.'' Laws are ever-changing rules set to battles. They forbid using certain things from missiles to magic. If you break a law, you get a yellow card, along with a fine. If you break it again, you get a red card, which sends you to jail. You have to pay to bail someone out of jail. A fine gameplay system indeed. Another thing I love is the amount of races. There are five races (Human, Nu Mou, Bangaa, Viera, Moogle). Only certain races can become bishops and only certain races can handle summoned monsters. You really have to think when you accept someone into your clan (a group of people whom you fight with) or when you change someone's job. The game itself is easy, although the absence of a tutorial caused me to lose my first battle. I have not lost one since. It really is impossible to lose a lot of battles, and you don't have to think very much. I enjoy watching the enemies take a beating when I purposefully do a mission that is too easy for me. Control: 9/10
I like the control, and it is easy to learn, but during battles, up on the d-pad can mean right on the screen. It is set at a 3/4's aerial perspective, so movement of your cursor can seem random at times. Other than this, the controls are simple, and could not be better.
Other: 10/10
There are numerous extras. You can battle with clans. You can raise monsters. You can change classes. You can do a lot more than this. You can choose where you want to place major landforms on the world map, and if you put them in certain places you get to find treasure. But if you really want to know about everything, you have to buy the game.
Pros: Amazing graphics Amazing sound Amazing everything
Cons: Obnoxious background music 3/4's aerial perspective can make controls whacked
The Bottom Line: 10/10
Buy, Rent, Borrow:
Definitely buy. Everything is a treat, everything is fun, and even though everything is the same it never gets boring. This is an amazing game, and Square Enix could really not have done better. I would thank them like some people at the end of their FAQ's or reviews but I find that sappy. I really, really, really love this game.
Conclusion
Basically the title of this review. I do not play video games very much, but I have already spent like 1/9 of my weekend playing this game. I only got it yesterday. I have played for six hours. I have dreams about playing and beating this game. Writing this review is hard because I would rather play the game. Before I got the game, I could read and entire book in a day. But now I draw frightening parallels from the book I'm reading to the game. Concentrating on homework is difficult. I just love this game. If you don't buy this, you are truly missing out.

THE GOOD: -Many races to choose from for your clan. -Awesome pixel graphics -Nice gameplay -Many items to choose to customize your characters! -A game with a gunner!THE BAD: -LAWS! -Kinda short
there is nothing really else bad about this game other than the laws that can get you really furious and if Marche gets a red law card then it is a game over >_<! SUMMARY: Overall a great game that will get you hooked even after the game is over so you can get secret characters. This is a great game to have for long trips like vacations or summer trips. Oh, also this is a game you won't regret to get because it can have 300 hours of gameplay just to get the last secret character and build up those secret items and getting them! So finally I give this game a 4.5/5!
