THE GOOD:
Deep,Engaging Game

SUMMARY:
Circle of the moon was good but this..this is just great! everything i hated about COTM has been fixed here. An easy to use magic book thingy replaces the card combos in the previous game. Juste Belmont controls really well and has a whip (DUH!) i could go on forever about how good this game is but ill just sum it up in PERFECT! I havent been that much into castlevania and now i am...thats saying a little too much, Its also VERY addictive and fun to play...considering its not so hard to SEE now. the game takes place in 1748,WAAAAAAAY before the last game and features big, colorful, atractive graphics to back it up.Juste controls better then Simon in the last game (easier too)and the magic system is re-done, as i said before....and its massively filled with hidden rooms and secrets everywhere you go.

THE GOOD:
good old Whip cracking action, Juste, the castle, and the room that you get to build out of stuff you find in the castle, Maxim

THE BAD:
to short

SUMMARY:
This is a good addition to the castlevania games, another fine job on the GBA, this was the first one and then AoS was another, but one before this CotM, that was horrible, not to rag on that here, HoD, was a game that had cool characters evil and good, Juste (good) was a cool character with his whip, and you could add stuff to equip on the tip, then Maxim (Evil) he was cool because you got to use him after you beat him and he has a sword, sorry but after playing all the castlevaniasbefore it, I played with a whip (except SotN)...but got tired of using the whip and liked using the sword, which is why Maxim is good in HoD, Alucard was awesome in SotN, and Soma was good in AoS...

THE GOOD:
-graphics and animation on the characters
-the holy fist+wind book combo
-playing as Maxim is fun
-2 castles!
-different whip add-ons

THE BAD:
-too short
-not enough magic combos at your disposal, per sub-weapon
- its a little easy
-the experience points that the enemies give out decrease every time you gain a level, making level 99 impossible to get to

SUMMARY:

This game would be better than Circle Of the Moon if it wasn't so short and easy. Its not too easy though, if your new at the genre you might have some trouble but i only died once(i mastered Circle of the moon, so i was prepared for this). there are also 2 castles, one evil one and one uhh more evil one, you will occasionally have to switch through both of them.
If your new to castlevania and wondering what its like, i think you should pick this onr up, its brighter and faster paced than Circl of the moon.

GBA  Castlevania: White Night Concerto (Harmony of Dissonance) Review 4.4

In the beginning, there was Symphony of the Night for PlayStation. Konami mixed the action elements of Castlevania with a RPG system of equipment and exploration. It was simple, but the result was absolutely astounding, and Konami released an extremely well received Castlavania title. Then, after several years of fans clamoring for a sequel, Konami finally released Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on the Game Boy Advance as a launch title. Though it was an excellent game, it was still somewhat different from Symphony of the Night, and so, Konami started developing the next game in the series that would be the true successor to Symphony of the Night. That game is Castlevania: White Night Concerto.

The game starts off 50 years after Simon Belmont defeats Dracula for the first time. You take the role of Juste Belmont, the great grandson of Simon, who has journeyed to Dracula's castle together with Maxim, his childhood friend, to save Lydie, another childhood friend who appears to have been kidnapped by an "unknown foe." Of course, since only one person is playing the game, Maxim is conveniently injured so that only Juste is able to enter the castle to look for Lydie, and Maxim is left catch up with him later. What's left of the story is pretty predictable, but if you're playing a Castlevania game for its story, you're playing it for the wrong reason anyway.

The gameplay is more of the same: Juste uses his whip and a choice of several different sub-weapons while exploring Dracula's castle and gaining different items, equipment, and relics. This time around, items aren't such a hassle to find, and Juste can even buy them, much like Alucard could in Symphony of the Night. Also, unlike previous installments of Castlevania, where one sub-weapon was infinitely more useful than all others, in White Night Concerto, each sub-weapon can be combined with the five magical spell books Juste finds throughout his journey to make different attacks. No spell effect is unnecessary; each spell effect has it own use, so you'll be tinkering a lot with the magic system while you play. Unfortunately, when you fuse sub-weapons and spell books, you really don't need to use the sub-weapon by itself anymore, and your hearts are left unused for most of the game.

Konami had promised a larger adventure overall this time around, and I'll have to admit: It is certainly larger. Through the course of the game, Juste will discover he's been traveling though not just one castle, but actually two. This doubles the size of the adventure; however, the game is extremely easy. Not once did I die in my playing of the game, and I beat it in less than ten hours. There are a small number of secret rooms to find, you can fill your monster encyclopedia with information about the monsters you've destroyed, and also decorate a small room inside the castle, but these extra features feel somewhat tacked on. Fortunately, extra modes are opened up once you beat the game, including a hard mode, and a no magic mode, so it somewhat remedies my complaints about the difficulty.

The control is set up the same as it is in Circle of the Moon. However, instead of setting the action button as R this time around, the shoulder buttons are used to dash. Pressing any of the shoulder buttons will command Juste to dash in that direction. So, if you're running right and press the L button, Juste will dash backwards, or to the left. This takes a bit of time to get used to, but once you do get used to it, it becomes second nature. The absence of an action button makes certain moves difficult to execute, mainly the super jump that are required to get to high platforms, but this is a very minor gripe I have with the control scheme.

Graphically, White Night Concerto is absolutely astounding. Juste animates very well, and the bigger bosses animate very fluidly, themselves. This makes the game have a more natural feel, as Circle of the Moon's characters and enemies appeared rather stiff. Overall, the graphics are much brighter, so you won't have to struggle with the dim screen like you did with Circle of the Moon.

Though the graphics are extremely good, it comes with a price. The music in this game is very disappointing. In fact, it got so bad at one point that I actually turned off the sound for my Game Boy Advanced and started listening to my Flame of Recca soundtrack. The music is of quite a poor quality; we're talking NES quality here! The game is definitely not up to the aural standards of Circle of the Moon. The sound effects, however, are pretty good, and sound just as good as the ones in Circle of the Moon.

Overall, the good outweigh the bad for this game. Even though the music is bad, it's the only major fault for this game. Everything else is nearly perfect. If you have a GBA and like the Castlevania series, absolutely, positively, get this game. You owe it to yourself to buy another great game in the Castlevania series, and this time, you won't have to squint to beat Dracula. Plus, the extra features will keep you replaying the game. Another excellent job, Konami!

THE GOOD:
-graphics
-2 castles
-cool looking speel combinations
-collectable items for Juste's room, GREAT IDEA!
-larger characters look cool
-Bosses are well animated
- the wind book+sacred fist thing is so cool!

THE BAD:
-i didn't really like the idea of combining magic books with sub weapons, wince you can only carry 1 cub at a time
-bosses are too easy
-navigating through the castle is sometimes confusing
-the music wasnt ass good as the other game's
-should've been cooler whip add-ons

SUMMARY:

Man, is this a good game! It's so addicting I couldn't put it down.It combines great 2D action with RPG elements> The bosses looked so cool! but were too easy and navigating through the castle is kinna hard(its hard to remember where you gneed to reurn once you got the item needed). This game is worth checking out if you liked the first one and if your into good 2D RPG games

GBA  Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonence 4.6

THE GOOD:
Much improved on the original Castlevania Advance - great graphics, a haunting soundtrack and a near perfect RPG/platofrm/action genre meld. I triumph.

THE BAD:
Can get a little too complex in areas, giving a lot of cunfusion. Also, although less so than Circle of the Moon, the dark game doesn't bode well with the dark GBA screen.

SUMMARY:
This was a sequal that I was all over - the second Castlevania made exclusivly for the GBA, and I had high hopes, mainly because the first was absolutely brilliant. I wasn't dissapointed.

Harmony of Dissonence takes all of the aspects that made Circle of the Moon so great and improved on them. I recieved this with mixed feelings.

The graphics are superb. Not exactly testing the GBA, but they look a lot nicer than games that do, if you get my drift; its not power, its skill that ultimatly decides the quality of a game's graphics. This is shown very well, and although its too dark for a GBA game, the textures are extremily good, as is some of the animation, and the spell effects are magnificent.

The sound is great, and although the music isn't quite as good as Circle of the Moon, it has some great tune's (including the best rendition of the classic Castlevania theme 'Vampire Killer', I've ever heard), and as before, really helps set the atmosphere of the game.

The enemies look as great as usual, albeit slightly bnigger and more compicated than they were in Circle of the Moon - some enemies filling up half the screen. Also, there are typically huge boss creatures, all being great fun to attack.

The gameplay is much like what came before - a strong RPG element, coupled with platofrming and action creates some of the best platofrming gaming ever. As before, you can get loads of extra items that let you do various different functions, from double-jumping to wall-kicking.

As usual, there are loads of sub-weapons to be had, however as much as I'd like to say I love the new magic system, I can't, its combination of spellbooks and sub-weapons just doesn't hold a candle to the DSS system of Circle of the Moon. Still, it can be lived with, with a game of this quality.

Sadly, the game can get very complex, up to a point where its almost impossible to play through frustration of not knowing what to do next. This is because you later get a function to change the castle that you explore, do a few things you couldn't do before, then change back. Sounds confusing? It is. And sadly, without any instructions telling you what you're actually meant to be doing, it just gets annoying.

Still, putting that aside, this is a more than worthy sequal, less linear than the first, and neither better off or worse off for that. Its a great, worthwhile game, and that's all that really needs to be said now.

THE GOOD:
everything is good: great graphics, very addictive role playing system, lots of items to find, big castle to explore.

THE BAD:
since i have to put something here, the music isnt as great as circle of the moon, but it is still good.

SUMMARY:
this game is very addicting, you'll find your self sucked in like you were with super metroid. go buy it now!! a nice feature is that the game starts out fairly easy, than gradually gets more and more difficult as Juste gains levels.

I absolutely love this game it's just as entertaining as symphony of the night for the ps1 even if I found it a little shorter. Just is a great main character and reminds me very much of alucard.
The music is very atmosphere and adds to the game and the backgrounds are very impressive especially on the sky walk way.
One of the few flaws I found was just as in circle of the moon the sprites animation wasn't the greatest, I also found it hard to get save points sometimes and felt they could have threw in a few more.

all in all I thought this was an amazing game and one of the best gba games I've played thus far. I reccomend it to anyone.

Well what a pleasant surprise this game was an excellent sequel to the allready notorious and equally fantastic circle of moon.
This is possibly one of the best games in the series along with my favorite, symphony of the night, and castlevania XX on the snes.
The game is a bit easy on the difficulty of enemies, and the bosses are relatively simple, but what is the true interest of the game is the completion of the game with a 200% on youre screen
Anyhow i recommend this game to any fan of the series!

also juste is a very charismatic character only beaten by Alucard
