Just when you thought Natsume were the leaders of the "let's take a strange activity and turn it into a fun game" along comes Atlus and takes the whole thing to a completely new level. Surgery? Yes, they've taken the life saving operations into the virtual world and crafted a gaming experience from it. The DS is clearly the ideal platform for such an endeavour and amazingly it works.
You're put in the role of Doctor Derek Stiles, a rookie doctor who has just started practicing at Hope Hospital. Initially you're put under the guidance of Mary, who works as your assistant shortly before transferring to another hospital. From there you'll be advised by numerous other characters, with new recruit Angie Thompson being the main one. While the pair start off on bad terms as Angie doubts Derek's commitment and skills, a certain incident changes her mind and the two begin to build a strong bond. The chemistry between the two and the way their partnership develops is quite nice.
THE GOOD: ~The simulation is realistic enough, without becoming too gory to gross to look at. ~The characters are easy to relate to, and the storyline makes the game even more fun to complete! ~Operations, when done well, are fun to go through.
THE BAD: ~Operations need very specific things done, and sometimes instructions aren't clear. Obviously, this is so you will think for yourself, but I found it frustrating at times. ~There is minimal speech in the game, and shouts of "Doctor!" aren't really what you need to hear when you're trying to focus. ~Some of the harder operations will need several tries to get them done right, which can be frustrating.
SUMMARY: Actually, it was my sister who wanted this game in the first place. I decided to play it just to see what it was like, and became hooked almost immediately. For those of you who don't know what the game is about, you're playing as Dr. Derek Stiles, a young surgeon with the Healing Touch, a magical ability that allows him to do thi...
THE GOOD: - Awesome Graphics. - Has Storyline. - Perfect Gameplay. The TouchScreen Is Used A Lot. - Replay Value.
THE BAD: - The Music Is Ok... - No Easter Eggs. - FEW Voice Acting. - If You Don't Like Blood, You Will Not Like This Game. - Some Operations Are SUPER Hard. - Time Limit In Operations.
SUMMARY: This is a must-get if you are a DS obssesed. This game is different. You can now rest from battles and wars... You can now operate.
The graphics are awesome. Simple like that. The characters have the best Anime Style, and are very well detailed. In Operations, everything transforms into 3D. Every organ is very well detailed. You can tell which organ is what even if you don't know about medic stuff. The tools you use are also very well designed. They don't lack one simple detail.
Something that called me the attention, is that this game has a storyline. You are Dr. Styles, a novice Doctor. However, this Doctor is going to realize that he has abilities that other doctors doesn't have. The nurse y...
