THE GOOD: This game is like Harvest Moon DS Boy version except there are some new features. Which improved the game a lot. Here are a few pros:
-Farming is a big part of the game. All you have to do is buy seeds from Vesta who lives at the east of the Valley or buy it from Karen over the phone.
-There are many more bachelors
-You could customize your farm to how you like it
-The game never ends
-Really good storyline
-You can have a male of female child unlike the boy version wherein you may only have a male child
-You could see your friendship and love points with other villagers/bachelors
-New places like a May's Clothing store where you can buy new clothes
-There are now 101 sprites instead of 7
-The Sprites are divided into teams like Watering, Farming, Brushing and Petting, Fishing, Stamina Healing, Lumber and Animal Shipping & Feeding Teams. You may already know what they do from their team name.
-New features (Like being able to change your wallpaper and your clothes!)
-Your child has three stages: Baby, Child and Teenager
-A new bachelor named Skye!
-You can choose between the blond girl from MFoMT or the brunette girl from AnWL.
-Natsume has fixed the glitches and bugs that were in the boy version!THE BAD: Of course, there are some bad points too:
-It doesn't have Wi-fi
- Watering can be a pain sometimes especially if you haven't upgraded your watering can (You can call up the Blacksmith and ask him to upgrade your watering can so watering your plants can be easier because if you "charge" your watering can, it will water more squares of land. But it only waters tilled land.)
-Throwing things on the ground reduce love and friendship points with villagers
-There are no dog or horse competitions/festivals
SUMMARY: The story starts with the Harvest Goddess and Harvest Sprites coming to your house at midnight. Your deceased mother sent a request to the Harvest Lord to help you raise the farm. When the Harvest Goddess and Harvest Sprites appear, the Harvest Goddess has decided you don't seem to be able to fulfill your mother's request. So, the Harvest King comes and they get into a fight. He banishes both the Harvest Goddess and the Harvest Sprites. So now you are left to rescue the Goddess and her Sprites, and fulfill her mother's dream.
In this game, you have to rescue the Harvest Goddess and the sprites. In order to bring back the Harvest Goddess, you have to rescue 60 out of 101 sprites. To rescue sprites, you have to do various things: shipping 300 eggs, having 10 cows/sheep, etc.
There are a total of 11 eligible boys:
Carter Griffin Gustafa Marlin Rock
(Unlike the Boy version, if you marry a boy from Mineral Town, your game will not end.)
Cliff Gray Kai Rick Trent
Mineral Town citizens come to Forget-Me-Not Valley (Where you live) on various days.
Marriage plays a big part in this game too. You cannot marry until you have rescued 60 Sprites and the Harvest Goddess. The hardest part about marriage for me is finding the sprites. Though if your having a hard time finding them, I suggest you go look in the forum because there is a thread with all the sprites and how to rescue them. To get married there are some requirements like: - Having a Big Bed which you can buy from the Shopping Network -Have a Blue Feather to propose with where you can buy from he supermarket once a boy's hear turns orange. (The blue feather is like a ring to propose with) But if you're not careful and activate all of your chose boy's rival events (explained later on) he will get married to his rival. (Some boys do not have rivals like Skye) To make a boy's love points increase simply get an item that they like and give it to them.
How heart events work:
Every time your bachelor's heart level increases (For black to purple to blue to green to yellow to orange to red) you can activate a new heart event. Fist, find a list of heart events. Follow exactly what is says. (Whether it's to enter a place at a certain time or go *here* at a certain day, etc. etc.) But heart events only work for heart levels: Black, Purple, Blue and Yellow.
Rival Events:
Rival events are like heart events but if you complete all rival events, that bachelor's events and his rival will get married.
You can grow crops, flowers and grass. First you have to till the soil with your hoe, plant your seeds and then water them But there are different seeds for different seasons. (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter) Unfortunately, you cannot plant any crops in Winter so you'll have to make do with mining. Though you can call up Gotz the woodcutter and ask him to build you a basement. In that basement, you'll be given a small land of soil to grow crops in. If you get a "sun" from the mine, it will allow you to grow plants in the basement. (The are different suns for each season. A spring sun will grow crops that grow in spring and so on.) But a good thing about a good thing about mining is that if you neglect your plants, they don't die, they just won't grow. Though they do wither if you make them last until the next season. (Which means you'll have to cut it with your sickle) You can plant numerous seeds to make your crop's level higher. (The higher the level, they more you can sell it for.) In this version of Harvest Moon, you can plant trees too. Trees are raised in a similar manner, though it takes longer to grow. But you cannot grow trees in your basement unlike seeds. Also, remember not to plant your tree close to your seed of it will shade it from the sun and not let it grow. Trees do not need to be watered after they sprout.
Unlike older version of Harvest Moon, around the valley there are patches of soil where you can grow crops and trees in. Each field has its own fertility level; the more fertile the faster your crops grow.
Farming is a little time consuming but it's worth it if you plant a lot. Van, a trader who comes on days ending with 3 and 8 buys thing from you too. To bargain from here, simply show him your item and if you don't like his price offer, cancel the trade and try again. The price may go higher or lower.
Raising animals is another big part of the game you can have cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, a horse, a cat and a dog. To keep your cat, chicken, dog and duck happy, just pick them up everyday. (Your cat and dog doesn't need it so no need to feed them, though your chickens and duck do! Just buy chicken feed from Popuri's Chicken barn and put it in their feed box.) At the start of the game, you do not start with a barn or coop. You have to ask Gotz the carpenter to build them for you. To keep your cows, sheep and horse happy, brush them everyday and talk to them. For your cows, you can milk them daily and for your sheep you can shear them every week. There is also such a thing called a touch glove. It almost like brushing, petting, sheering, and milking. Only it's up close. If you neglect your animals, they will get sick and die. Though if they are sick you can buy medicine for them. If they die, you lose friendship and love points with villagersand bachelors. Also, after 6 years, you animals will die of old age.
There are various tools in this game too: Hoe, (tilling soil) Axe, (chopping tree stumps) Hammer (destroying rocks) Watering Can, (watering your crops/trees) sickle, (cutting plants, grass, and weeds) Brush, (brushing/petting your animals) Bell, (calling you sheep and cows) Milker, (for milking your cows. Note: You cannot milk pregnant cows) and Shears. (for shearing your sheep)
In this game, there are no more glitches. Which can be good and bad, (Good: Your game will not freeze Bad: No more billion dollar glitch)
In the game, you can also participate in various festivals such as the cooking festival, the New Year festival, the Fireworks festival and so on.
Around the village, you can buy things from villagers. (You can buy seeds from Vesta's Farm, clothes from May's clothing store, etc.) Chatting with the villagers can sometimes be interest but they usually repeat what they say.
The graphics are really good even if it's in 2D. Everything is animated is animated well and the music here is memorable. Overall, everything looks nice.
My overall opinion is that you should buy this game because right after turning your DS off, you'll be excited to play again. |
