And that's where Disney Princess: Magical Jewels ultimately lands – as a title that does a good job of visually presenting its worlds and characters and offering a lot of ground to cover, but gaining its multiple hours of gameplay primarily through repetition of the same core concept, again and again, with little variation along the way. Young girl gamers likely won't mind the lack of variety, and that's who this title's targeting, so it shouldn't be a huge barrier preventing a purchasing decision for most. But there are other games on the DS targeting this same demographic that offer a more evolutionary adventure, where new ideas and gameplay concepts are introduced over time, and the quest ultimately ends up feeling more engaging and satisfying in the end. Look to those, too, as a potential balance to this game's much more casual approach and feel.
