What They Say:

"Utilitarian" is a pretty good description for Break 'Em All altogether, come to that. It's a respectable update of one of the oldest videogames around that manages to retain its timeless appeal, despite a few weak spots. It's not exactly a radical reinvention of the genre -- but, then, it's not meant to be. As simple, straightforward arcade-style action with a few unobtrusive additions at a budget price, it's a smashing success.
"As far as Breakout copies go, this one both hits and misses the target, but even with the strikes against the design it's not a bad DS title."
"As expected, the game isn’t a visual stunner. The boards, blocks, and paddle all look rather plain, and even the boss fights are underwhelming. Break ‘Em All was released, rather smartly, as a budget game, and while it’s an amusing diversion with a nostalgic bent, it’s clear that this classic game style isn’t holding up to the test of time."
"This budget-priced Arkanoid clone has its moments of creativity, but mostly it's just a serviceable puzzler that offers little outside of well-worn territory."
"Although the game isn't the most beautiful out there, the draw is based solely on gameplay, which is rare these days. Those considering the title should have DS-owning friends with a penchant for brick-busting and understand that there is only so much that can be done with a BreakOut clone. Knowledge of games past does not necessarily equate wisdom, but it is the right first step on a long journey."
