BackgroundBy the time 1991 came around, three Mega Man titles had been released with all three being released on the NES/Famicom. For a new twist on the series, Mega Man finds himself making his handheld debut. This time, his nemesis Dr. Wily has revived eight Robot Masters that Mega Man had previously defeated.
But if you thought Dr. Wily was making Mega Man relive his past, then think again: Dr. Wily has started to create a new line of robots called "Mega Man Killers." Robots designed with the intention of defeating Mega Man once and for all.
Can Mega Man overcome Enker and defeat Dr. Wily?
Game PlayThe game starts with four Robot Masters to select, either Fire Man, Ice Man, Elec Man or Cut Man. Their stages are similar in design, but the bosses are similar-if not identical-to their NES counterparts. The big difference between then and now is that after beating these four bosses, Mega Man has to face Dr. Wily's stage, a gauntlet challenge that ends with Mega Man facing these four Robot Masters from Mega Man 2: Quick Man, Bubble Man, Heat Man and Flash Man.
Once these four are beaten, Mega Man faces Enker. Only by beating Enker can Mega Man retain the Robot Masters' weapons from the previous stage and proceed to one final stage, where Dr. Wily awaits.
The soundtrack for the first four stages is similar to the NES soundtrack but in a slightly different pitch, with new music written for the boss battles and final two stages.
