About this Book
The Road (written by Cormac McCarthy, author of several other books including No Country For Old Men, All the Pretty Horses and others) is a post-apocalyptic book released in 2006 and is about the journey of a man and his son over a period of several months in America during a time when all hope has been lost for humanity. While they venture through the cold unforgivable winter, they meet nobody willing to help them during their hardship and must avoid the onslaught of those driven by murder and cannibalism throughout each town and road they encounter.
In 2007, the novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and in 2006, awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction. Later in 2009, the novel was adapted into a movie of the same name, directed by John Hillcoat and achieving much critical acclaim.
