3dmarks 2001SE

Although 3DMarks 2003 is now out, we release this review with 2001SE results while we evaluate its newest release as a possible benchmark. 2003 will likely have more of an impact in future reviews, especially for future, fully DX9.0 compliant cards like the GeForceFX and the RADEON 9900 (though the 9500/9700 series also has full DX9.0 support). 3dmarks 2001SE is interesting because we find it to consistently score AGP8X cards higher than non AGP8X cards, and usually with a wider lead for the 8X cards as we add Anti-Aliasing into the mix.

SPEC Viewperf 7.0

SPECViewperf 7.0 is an OpenGL benchmark suite that tests using several workstation applications such as Lightwave. The chart is hard to read, but we've coloured the results of each of the 4200-8X cards yellow, and you can compare them against the non-8X 4200 by looking for the white bar. In general, the 4200-8X cards beat out the 4200 regular card, but only by the slimmest of margins, and the 4200 comes right back to trounce all the other 8X cards in the drv test.
