P4 Cooler Shootout - PAGE 7
Alex Chan - Friday, April 26th, 2002

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

So there you have it. For the final shootout results, accounting for performance, ease of installation and noise, I determined the final percentages and placed them in order:

1. AVC 117140 Sunflower94%
2. Speeze 9T207B1H3G IceStream90%
3. Titan TTC-MT4 Majesty84%
4. AOpen AC715e80%
5. Titan TTC-W2T55%

The AVC Sunflower just edged out the Speeze IceStream by 1°C in the load temperature to capture first place in the shootout. In the sensitive world of computing, every 1° C counts. The copper core and the powerful fan proved to be too much for the IceStream.

Incidentally, the order that the coolers ranked in performance is also how they ranked overall. All in all, 3 of the 5 coolers performed better than the Intel-boxed cooler, which in my mind is a success on its own. Intel designed a tough cooler and was difficult to beat.
