There is a little something you may of heard of, it's called 'Moore's Law'. Quite simply, it states that computer speeds should double every 18 months while cost per transistor will be be cut in half at the same time. Computers are getting faster, but there is one thing that 'Moore's Law' did not really take into account...
Heat!
Thankfully, Zalman has placed the utmost focus upon quiet and efficient thermal dissipation. Zalman has been offering for years effective cooling solutions with a minimal of sound intrusion. It's safe to say that it is easy to keep a computer cool, but the constant drone of cooling fans can become quite irritating. Zalman was the first to produce the 20dB cooling solution. Zalman has also branched out into the realm of Power Supplies that utilize what they have termed their CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System). Through detailed design, Zalman has crafted some truly quiet, yet efficient Power Supplies.
Furthermore, Zalman manufacturers an array of CPU, chip set, hard drive, and VGA coolers. This may seem the standard fare for any cooler company, but Zalman has taken it a step further. Not only do they offer both Intel and AMD CPU coolers, but also manufacture VIA CPU coolers. Yes, you read me right, VIA CPUs. But last, and certianlly not least, is their selection of HTPC(Home Theater PCs) and of course their very well known TNN(Totally No Noise) enclosure - a PC case that, through a combination of cooling methodologies, offers a virtually noise free PC.
We're going to be reviewing one of Zalmans latest incarnation, the CNPS9500 AM2 CPU cooler. Aside from the rather long name, this cooler boasts a very attractive design. Triple heat pipes, a shining array of cooling fins, and incredible attention to detail make this one of the most attractive coolers we have seen in ages. If this cooler can chill half as well as it looks, then Zalman has built another winner. So, let's see what the CNPS9500 AM2 CPU cooler from Zalman can really do.
