Athlon 64 Venice 3800+ Review - PAGE 4
Terren Tong - Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

PCMag Business Winstone

Interestingly enough, the gap between the 3000+ and the Pentium 4 3.0 is much wider than it is between the 3800+ and the P4 3.6. Again, we have the Venice coming in slightly slower than the Winchester although the numbers are close enough to chalk it up to margin of error.

The tables switch a bit here with the Venice and Winchester swapping places. The 3800+ is ahead of the P4 3.6 by a hefty margin.

WinRAR

After our look at overclocking on the Athlon 64, we had some requests to add WinRAR into our benchmark suite. It looks like WinRAR is fairly dependent on both processor power and memory bandwidth as the gap between the overclocked Venice and the one at stock speeds scales a lot faster compared to the stock and downclocked version.
