Thermaltake Toughpower 750W PSU - PAGE 1
J. Micah Grunert - Thursday, August 10th, 2006

We've played with quite a few power supplies over the years. Some come with flashing lights and pretty paint jobs. Some have special connectors and braided wires. But when it comes down to the proverbial brass tacks, function is far more important than form. And in the realm of PC power supplies, performance is near infinitely more important than form. Although not necessarily seen as a top tier power supply brand, Thermaltake does it well enough that they are one of my personal favorites.

Amongst a number of other products, Thermaltake has been in the power supply market for some years now, and have just recently released a 750 watt monster in the form of the Toughpower 750W power supply. Of course it looks like your typical power supply with a clutch of cables out the back, a big fan on the bottom, and a switch somewhere. But as of recent, some supplies haven't been able to keep up with modern technology. Specifically that of ATI's CrossFire using X1900XT/XTX cards. When it comes to CrossFire with these performance monsters, a few supplies may succeed . . . where many others have failed.

We've got a new toy to play with, and we're going to see how well it works. Let's see what the Toughpower 750W power supply from Thermaltake can do and how well it does it.
