In this taste test, we'll compare the Samsung SW-212 12/8/32 drive to the IOMega ZipCD 12x10x32 burner. Because oftheir different RW speeds we won't be comparing that functionality. The Samsung got marginally higher than the Iomega on pure drive reading scores, by 0.02x, but at 32x it's CPU utilizaton was significanly higher. The Samsung has surprisingly good random access times, beating the Iomega by 25 MS and matching it's own published numbers exactly. The SW-212 also had much lower throughputs than the ZipCD. All in all, the SW-212's read capabilities are very good for a 32x reader.
