Stereo Link 1200 Review - PAGE 1
Alex Chan - Thursday, March 21st, 2002

INTRODUCTION

Ever try to crank your favorite songs from your computer on your state of the art home stereo system just to find out they sounded a tiny bit better then your itty bitty computer speakers? Well you think to yourself, “It has to be because my computer speakers are just THAT good… Maybe that “state-of-the-art” subwoofer is just making my computer speakers sound that good? Unfortunately, you’re just kidding yourself.

Well, “That’s a simple solution”, you say to yourself, I’ll spend more money get myself a whole new computer audio system. After picking up the whole works and spending your hard-earned money, say $500, on a state of the art computer audio system you realize “Hey this does sound better but when I pop a CD into my stereo it still doesn’t compare”. Well you can brag to all your friends about your new computer components I guess.

The problem doesn’t lie the speaker but with your sound card. As the music is converted to analog to reach those speakers, the quality of the music is lost since the sound card has a slow sampling rate. Therefore, a new piece of hardware was created by Stereo-Link. The Model 1200(also SL1200) bypasses your soundcard and sends crisp clean music straight from your computer to a decent set of speakers that will do your music justice. The device even comes with a headphone jack for private listening, although the volume for the headphone jack is slightly hidden and takes a little time to find.
