Futuremark PCMark Vantage
PCMark is a benchmarking suite from FutureMark, who also make the reknown 3DMark. It includes many tests to calculate overall system performance including hard drive performance. The hard drive suite performs tasks such as scanning for viruses, streaming, recording and more. It is a fairly good indicative of general real-world performance.

The Barracuda XT takes the crown home once again, showing constant improvement over previous generation drives. I wouldn't call it groundbreaking performance, but at least it's moving in the right direction.

its still a good idea. its not to say that this drive is crap, but its a great way for someone to determine if its worth getting an SSD, 10K, or 7200. though, for anyone wanting a 2TB drive, i doubt theyd consider much else.

If you're looking for a 2TB HDD, correct me if I'm wrong but, you're looking for storage space not speed. If you want speed then go grab yourself a 32-64GB SSD, or make yourself a raid 5 or 10 with these drives.
