Conclusions
The 192MP provides performance that is expected of a 19", 25ms panel. For the average consumer, this is sufficient as the focus is on an all around product instead of focusing specifcally on gamers for example. TV Tuner quality was on par with high quality PCI solutions that we have worked with and the flexibility of the AV inputs will please even the discerning electronics junkies. PIP mode is typical of regular non-widescreen modes with the basic four corner locations and two sizes. Some of the nice touches include the RCA and SVideo inputs right on the side of the panel providng easy access for camcorders, consoles and other small hook ups that are used frequently. The headphone jack is also a very nice touch.
The 192MP is not without some issues though. As we noted in the 173MW, output from game consoles is not on par with CRT displays. As much as computers and living room electronics are converging, they still do not mesh perfectly and the 192MP being a monitor first and a television second, performs its monitor duties a lot better than it does television functions. It would have been preferable to see Samsung up the specs on the refresh rate department as this may turn off the hardcore gaming crowd.
All in all the 192MP makes a compelling case for an all in one solution that should work right out of the box without having to wrestle with Windows warnings about Non-WHQL drivers or hardware compabilitity issues. Consumers looking for a compact dual purpose display should definitely keep the 192MP in mind. The ease of use is reflected in the price however. For those who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves a bit and pick up a seperate 19" LCD panel and TV Tuner, the same functionality can be found at a much lower price point.
