?? twice the speed of the XT, well entertaining, I was lookign at all these cards and reviews, but it seams as there is a margin of difference, but still in drawing up a clear winner for now, it would have to be the X800 Pro.. WHY? if you clock the vivo's they run faster than the XT's with matching core and ram,

I was viewing the Nvidia's card and found that they are not so good on the image quality, maybe this will be fixed shortly and can only lead me the thinking the NVidia win's not by double frame rates.. LOL, your on something!!

another thing is that ATI sells cards off their site for MSRP. after the initial brouhaha where even retailers are doing MSRP, prices tend to fall quite a bit but pricing w/ ATI stays consistent so usually it is in the best interests for you NOT to buy directly from them

A quick note to readers. We didn't include any Nvidia based parts in the benchmarks because at press time we hadn't received our 6800 (N40) from Nvidia yet (and comparing the X800 to the FX 5950 Ultra isn't the kind of comparison you guys are looking for anyway). We'll be pushing out a 6800 review/preview with comparison numbers as soon as we have the 6800 in our hot little hands.
That is the cost of the card after you send them a card. That is the same thing I thought at first too. I was really happy that I could just send in my current 9800XT and only end up paying around $50 for a new x800 XT when it came out. Turns out they only give you $50 for whatever card you send in. If you have a newer card you should sell it on eBay if you're looking to upgrade. I got $305 for my used 9800XT w/ box and everything.

I agree with the tone of Aces post though... Bases your decision on 3Dmark is not a great way to do it.

um no last i checked it was only 12,000 for the 6800 ultra sorry to dissapoint and people made it clear that it was on a high oced comp.

if 3dmark is your quantifier for graphics card purchases, then go with a NV40- they score over 15,000 on a stock clocked system heh

OMG, went to megagames and i saw that the x800xt got 15,000 3dmarks. Even though it was a very oced system as they say and not too many people care about 3dmark,but that means that ati is the definite ruler in gfx!

PRITTY! <--- ahah!.. ok anyways.

From what I have seen, the x800pro beats out the fx6800, I have yet to see a review that says otherwise.

I actually went looking around for an x800 pro the other day while browsing but I stumbled upon another site forgot wht it was but they reviewed the 6800 ultra vs x800pro and x800xt pe and they have a pritty close match. They all were very close but the x800xt managed to keep a steadier frame rate. Pritty interesting, if I find the article I will post it back here.

in talking with nvidia yesterday they expect a hefty bump in performance when the drivers mature a bit more. performance on the ATi side i think will stay fairly consistent since the R420 is very similar to the R300 series.

Specs are only telling so much right now. Neoseeker doesn't have a 6800 to work with or I should say set of 6800's to work with so the report is only showing ATI results right now. Once they get the cards in it'll only be a matter of time until we see a winner in the benches for the time being. No idea on what the future holds yet especially since these cards aren't even in retail production yet.
