Everyone knows WinRAR, so no need to explain what it is. I will compress our custom 10MB, 100MB and 500MB files using the greatest compression setting, in the ZIP format.

Cinebench 10 is another rendering program. I will run both the single-threaded benchmark as well as the multi-threaded.

Since WinRAR is single-threaded, both Phenom IIs, being the fastest processors in terms of frequency, beat Intel's offerings, including the QX9770 surprisingly. The Core i7 920, being only clocked at a slow 2.66GHz, could not keep up with the other quad-cores. In Cinebench, the Phenom II X4 was very close to the QX9770 in terms of single-core performance, however it won by almost 400 points in the multi-core test. Once again, the Q9650 was at the complete bottom. A increase in frequency allowed the X4 965 to beat the HT-enabled quad-core.

P.S. Intel should lower down its motherboards prices to compete with AMD's best.
AMD needs to raise their prices to compete with Intel
the reason why AMD doesnt have many mobile processors is because of their power consumption. in general, AMD processors can use up to twice as much power as the equivalent intel processor, and this is what makes them really unpopular amongst the laptop brands.
i mean intel for notebook and AMD well known for PC
and by the way, this is an old thread.
Here is a graph showing a i7 920 power consumption as compared to a Phenom II X4 940 (these 2 should be comparable, however the Intel is a higher end CPU over the AMD, as well as a newer CPU).

AMD made the stupid mistake of not seeing revenue and profits in the netbooks thinking it was a fad. Because of this they never truly developed a CPU similar to the Atom. If they had gotten in early, netbooks would most definitely be cheaper as we see a trend of AMD CPUs being much cheaper than Intel.
Just because AMD CPUs run slightly hotter than Intel doesn't mean they pack double the power. Lots of factors goes into heat production.
actually, while looking at your graphs, i dont understand why those two processors with those different speeds were compared.
i7 is better then amd x4.But x4 is more powerfull then any of others intel procesor and its very cheap when you look about i7 or i5.

correction, the x4 is more power hungry. the i5 is about the same price as the 965, and beats the 965 by a decent amount.
