Remember back in the day when having 4 gigabytes of RAM in a computer was considered overkill and people would laugh at you for suggesting it? I faintly remember it; the very first computer I built just 5 years ago only had 512MB of RAM in it and at the time that was considered decent. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in just a few short years technology-wise, with 4 GB of RAM being the current norm and 6 or 8 GB not too far off. I think it’s fair to say most users now go for at least 4GB of RAM in their computers.
Patriot is a big brand in the memory market producing a wide range of products including solid state drives, flash drives and RAM. Patriot was kind enough to send me a set of Viper Xtreme DDR3 RAM. With two 2GB RAM modules it gives you a total of 4GB of RAM which will be plenty for most people with a 64-bit operating system. With an aluminum heat sink over a copper core, this kit should appeal to overclockers as well as the average user.
