Ozone Neon Precision Laser Mouse Review - PAGE 1
Marvin Purdy - Tuesday, February 9th, 2016 Like ShareComputer enthusiasts and gamers have been enjoying an expanding selection of computer products thanks to a growing worldwide network of companies. Based in Europe, Ozone is one of those companies with nearly two decades of experience in delivering price-competitive peripherals featuring design, function and performance.
Today we get to look at their Neon precision laser mouse. This mouse has an ambidextrous design to accommodate most users, with the normal left/right buttons, middle scroll wheel movement/button, and DPI selection switch with two buttons on each side of the mouse that are all programmable (the two sets of side buttons are set to the same function). A rubber coated, anti-slip surface keeps the user fingers in firm contact with the mouse for better movement control.
The Neon mouse contains 128KB built-in memory to allow users to save up to 5 custom profiles, and gives the user options of four on-the-fly DPI levels ranging from 200 to 6400; each selection is indicted by one of four colors on the DPI switch LED. The Neon also offers a polling rate of 125/250/500/1000 Hz, and a response rate of 2 to 255 ms for each profile. The 1.8-meter braided USB cable provides a gold-plated connector for optimal data transfer that is ideal for those quick and precise work/game movements.
The provided customization software has an intuitive interface for the user to create, load, save or edit preferences for each profile; users can even trade their profiles with friends.
With the introductions over, let’s take a few moments to hook up this mouse unit to our test setup and engage in some work and especially play.

Packaging
Ozone has taken the oppportunity to roll with a different packaging design by using a six-sided box. Covered in a black matte color, the two end panels are angled outward to present the potential buyer an eye catching motif. The front panel is labelled with the product name up at the top, along with a glossy photo of the mouse in the middle (the image of the mouse itself actually has a matte finish), and a list of three features at bottom right: a 6400 DPI laser sensor, 8 progrmmable buttons, and an ergonomic ambidextrous design.
The back panel provides a side view of the mouse, surrounded by another list of five features (though only the points about the rubber coating surface and on-the-fly DPI toggle were not already mentioned on the front). The Ozone tagline of “it’s all about evolution” completes the upper half of the back panel. The bottom half meanwhile has four mouse features translated in 8 languages.
You can open the front panel of the box to view the mouse itself under a plastic protective cover to the right. The backside of the front panel offers a short description of the Neon mouse with another glossy photo.
The left side panels provide the Ozone branding at the top, with five features listed below on one of the angled sides. The other angled side has a photo and testimonial from pro-gaming teams listed at the top, followed by Neon mouse specifications at the bottom.
The right side panel has the Ozone name in a glossy lettering that almost disappears in some lighting conditions, with the Neon mouse color annotated at the very bottom. The last angled panel lists five mouse features.
After removing the Neon mouse from the packaging we find three accessories; a sticker to place on your computer, a user manual and the mini software disc. I found a newer version of the mouse software on the Ozone website, but you will need a RAR decoder to extract the setup files before installation.
