Conclusion
Two things need to be cleared up right away. One is that we clocked OCZ's PC2700 well above spec (all the way up to 200Mhz) without problem, and with no discernible stability issues. The second is that we did this while maintaining the CAS 2 timing, and without increasing the voltage to the RAM.
Those aspects alone, are two very good reasons to buy the RAM. OCZ RAM has had a so-so reputation, and some motherboard manufacturers tend to recommend more mainstream brands like Corsair and Kingston, but during our testing, we had absolutely no problems at 166Mhz, and we didn't find anything wrong when running at 200Mhz either.
If you are a performance mongrel, where every % increase in performance counts, then pushing your system with the fastest RAM speed and tightest timings are important. I don't shrug at the 5% performance increase; afterall, we're in an industry where motherboards built using the same chipset are often within 2% performance of each other, and where videocards using the same chipset and overall design are likewise not differentiated in performance by over 10%. This is a power user's RAM, and it performs like a champ.
Overall Score: 87%
