OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Platinum Review - DDR3 @ 2000MHz! - PAGE 1
William Henning - Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 Like ShareDDR3 is becoming faster and faster... and finally the prices are starting to drop to somewhat more reasonable levels. I figure in another year or two DDR3 will reach parity with current DDR2 costs, and by that time Nehalem and Deneb will be here to take good advantage of all that bandwidth... but I digress.
Today we are looking at some very high speed modules from OCZ - namely the OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000 Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth Edition.
No, you are not seeing things - each of these modules can theoretically approach 16GB/sec for reads.
Here, let me give you a close up of the label:
As you can see, the modules are rated for 2000MHz data rate (1000MHz actual clock speed) with 9-8-8-28-1T timing.
OCZ assures everyone on their web page that each of the modules are hand tested to reach those speeds... let's see if the modules do reach those speeds on our P5E3 memory test bench.
