OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 Intel XMP LV 4GB Review - PAGE 1
Pier-Luc Gendreau - Thursday, November 19th, 2009 Like ShareIn today's world of high performance computing, the processor is just a part of the equation. Don't get me wrong, it's a very important aspect, but memory also plays a non-negligible role. With Intel's current Core i5, i7 and upcoming i3 processors, DDR3 is no longer merely an option, but instead a requirement. Pricing is now mostly in line with DDR2 so that's great; we get more performance without having to shell out more of our hard earned money!
OCZ is undoubtedly one of the leaders in computer memory, especially in the demanding enthusiast market where performance is the all important factor. They just recently introduced their new line of memory specifically designed for Core i5 processors. What does that mean exactly? We're back to dual channel kits, but with the same low-voltage requirement. In fact, unlike many other dual channel DDR3 kits out there, the ones engineered for mainstream Lynnfield processors only need 1.65V to run up to their specifications.
The latest kit we have got our hands on is, now would be a good time to take a deep breath, OCZ's DDR3 PC3-12800 Intel XMP Low-Voltage Dual Channel. That translates to a 2x2GB kit running at 1600 MHz with only 1.65V and built-in profiles to easily get them up to speed.
