OCZ DDR2 PC2-9200 Flex II 4GB Review - PAGE 1
William Henning - Thursday, August 21st, 2008 Like ShareOCZ was kind enough to send us a 4GB PC2-9200 kit a while ago, and its time we took a look at the modules.
The modules certainly look impressive!
The massive heatsinks that double as water coolers add significant heft, and you can pretty much forget about mounting four of these modules on a motherboard - on the other hand, there is sufficient heat sink area that it is doubtfull that actually water cooling the modules will have any significant benefit.
I left on the little plastic caps, and mounted the modules in our trusty Asus Formula Maximus Special Edition board - an x38 based high end board - and put one of our E6400's into it.
We must remember one thing - unless you are running a 64 bit operating system, you will not be able to take full advantage of the 4GB of memory a pair of these modules would give to your system. Depending on the motherboard, and Windows, a 32 bit Windows will most likely only see 3.1GB to 3.5GB, and the rest of the memory would be unusable.

I just bought 4GB of OCZ Platinum Revision 2 DDR2 800 for my PC. A stick went bad.. I think someone was trying to steal a stick while the PC was turned on... and fried the stick. So, whenever it arrives, I'll have 4x1GB sticks of this OCZ RAM I ordered. I would have liked to have had this RAM you reviewed... would have gave some killer memory bandwidth with a nice overclock! But, I should be able to hit 1000mhz with this RAM. Not bad for $27 x 2GB after rebate. (EDIT: I mean $20 after rebate).
But, again, nice review and nice RAM. Maybe I missed it, but what voltages did it take to run 1200MHz/5-5-5-14?
