MSI 975X Platinum - PAGE 13
J. Micah Grunert - Friday, October 27th, 2006

After all is said and done, what's left to say?

The MSI 975X Platinum should suit nearly every need of most users out there with its combination of clean layout, easy to use BIOS, passive chipset cooling, and solid performance. But honestly, power enthusiasts and extreme over-clockers might want to look elsewhere; at least not until there has been a couple more BIOS revisions. With a couple revisions or two, this board could probably break the 400MHz FSB barrier quite happily.  The bundle is pretty decent, edging out over even some of what Abit offers, and expansion capabilities are more than fine.

So, just to sum it all up, the 975X Platinum motherboard from MSI is quite nice at stock, and a decent overclocker. Granted, it could be better. It's $170 USD price tag is reasonable, and quite expected for its performance range. Though if one were looking for a power house, no holds barred, ultra elite board, expect to pay $200 USD plus. In fact, make that $220 USD.

In summation, a nice piece of hardware for a decent price.
