Rightmark 3DSound Analyzer
Results are MIA for the SL-915GPro-FGR but every one else represents in the Rightmark Tests
Surprisingly enough, the Azalia/C-Media solution fares a lot better in the 3D Sound tests compared to simple 2D channels. A maximum of 32 buffers were tested with Rightmark and the Kloss supports 128 2D streams, and 16 each for the DirectSound 3D ones - this may also account for the comparatively lower processor usage.
Call of Duty Sound Test
The nForce 4 board mops up in Call of Duty without sound but surprisingly enough it is the Kloss that plows from second last to second when EAX2 is enabled in game besting both the 925XE and the nForce 4.
LAME MP3 Encoding
Less than a 1.5% difference seperates the top from the bottom when encoding with LAME. Processor speed, plain and simple, is the dominating factor here. Times are in minutes and seconds.
TMPGEnc MPEG2 Encoding
MPEG2 encoding is a recent addition to our testing suite so results from other 915 solutions are not available but there is about a 12% difference between the 925XE and the nForce 4 compared to the Kloss. Times are in minutes and seconds.
AutoGK XviD Encoding
The gap between the Kloss and the top LGA-775 board grows even wider in XviD encoding with the delta coming in at roughly 21%. While the 915 based Qbic is a touch slower, the only explanation we can come up with regarding the performance difference is the abysmal memory performance coming back to haunt the Kloss.
