Disk I/O
Three different brands of hard drives are used for the IDE, SATA and USB2 tests - results between the SATA and IDE throughput should not be directly compared although in our experience, the newer SATA drives burst much higher than the IDE drives that we have worked with.
HDTach IDE Testing
The Kloss in on par with all the other solutions in this test save for the nForce 4 for Intel board who's burst rate is quite a bit higher than the Intel based solutions. The numbers for the Soltek 915G board seem to be a bit off. The numbers for that will need to be double checked.
HDTach SATA Testing
The SATA results are pretty even across the board. Every single board is pretty well within margin of error.
USB2 Throughput Testing
USB2 throughput is pretty even for every configuration. Processor usage is quite a bit higher on the Intel platforms compared to the nForce 4.
LAN Throughput
There are still a lot of PCIe boards that still use PCI based GbE solutions but the Kloss is not one with them. Receive rates are in the neighbourhood of 950Mbps which is very good, trailing only the nForce 4 SLI reference board.
LAN Processor Usage
Processor usage is about in line with other non-accelerated solutions. The nForce 4 with the TCP offloading flexes its muscles here with processor usage that is nearly half of the KL-I915A while acheiving slightly higher throughput.
