IOGEAR Kaliber Mechlite Mechanical Keyboard Review - PAGE 1
Marvin Purdy - Monday, April 18th, 2016 Like ShareIOGEAR pledges to "providing innovative all-in-one computer connectivity solutions and support" with its lineup of audio visual and KVM connectivity products. The good news is that the manufacturer by this point has been providing for desktop, server room or front lobby setups with multiple monitors and/or computers needing inter-connection for many years.
However they've entered enthusiast gaming products as well, as evident in the IOGEAR Kaliber Gaming Mechlite backlit mechanical keyboard on our review bench. Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Jan 6, 2016, the Mechlite is a full mechanical keyboard with blue Kailh switches rated for 50 million keystrokes.
The Kaliber Gaming Mechlite has a blue LED backlight with adjustable brightness levels in 7 different patterns. It has 5 programmable macro keys supporting up to 32 characters each, anti-ghosting keys with full N-key rollover, a Windows key lockout, laser cut keys and braided USB connector cable.
With a hefty construction, the Kaliber Gaming Mechlite is designed to remain stable and in place on your desktop during work or gaming. IOGEAR brings another quality product to the computer enthusiast, but let’s see just how well they did their due diligence.
Packaging:
The IOGEAR Kaliber Gaming Mechlite packaging has a matte black color scheme on the top and bottom panels with matte green side and end panels. The front panel has a photo of the keyboard illuminated with a low level blue LED.
Along the right edge is the model number (GKB710L), and at bottom right are three features translated into three languages: Kailh Blue-type mechanical switches, full anti-ghosting and 5 programmable Macro keys.
On the back panel are four photos with captions for four features, again in three languages: fully mechanical switches, swappable W, A, S, D and arrow keys for for MMO players and left handed gamers, Windows key lock function, and a repeat of the 5 programmable macro keys.
Listed at the bottom of the back panel are three more features, including the 7 LED backlight patterns with adjustable brightness, matte finished keys to resist natural finger oils, and sturdy weight for added stability when gaming.
Shown below are photos of the side and end panels with all the relevant logos and product descriptions.
Inside the packaging we find the keyboard covered in a plastic wrapper with its own suffocation warning label. The keyboard itself rests with two foam cushions at each end for protection during transport, and under the green cardboard is the USB cable.
Also included are the quick start guide pamphlet and a troubleshooting card with contact information. The quick start guide has all the information you will need to set up the keyboard.
