Intel Pentium D 840 Review - PAGE 11
William Henning - Friday, January 27th, 2006

Overclocking Test Results

Overclocking wise, we were met with great success on the 840D. Even with air cooling we were able to get to 3.8GHz - but with some modest watercooling we were able to get a final stable overclock of 4.04GHz! To show some of the effects from the overclock, here are some results. I'll cover how we hit these results in the conclusion.

Doom 3

Mea culpa. I forgot to run the Doom 3 test at 16x250MHz

The improvement from the stock setting to the overclocked setting is a quite impressive 25%

WinRAR

WinRAR shows impressive gains from overclocking the 840; 18% in fact going from stock to the stable overclocked 4.04GHz setting; and gained a further 1% from the unstable 16x250 setting.
