I’m retiring the Quake time demo from the repertoire of testing tools. With the newer GeForce3 cards, the old Quake engine is not powerful enough to full stressing out the GPU. So there… farewell Quake…

Replacing Quake is Max Payne and Serious Sam; the new Payne engine seriously puts a load on even the newest video cards, while Serious Sam peaks the OpenGL functions.

Here we see that the GeForce3 cards are totally dominating the scene, benchmarking at about ~4000 even at 1600x1200 32bit. The TORNADO comes in second place after the OCZ Gladiator GeForce3, which was expected given that the OCZ Gladiator is overclocked. The ATI Radeon VE is last and couldn’t achieve anything higher than 1000 at 1600x1200 32bit.

The TORNADO and the OCZ look pretty much the same, although the OCZ is just a little bit ahead. Meanwhile, both GeForce3 cards obliterate the other older cards.
