oh...my...god. that is impressive. were the temperatures and power consumption taken when overclocked, or on stock levels?

What kind of F@H numbers does it put out.

Dunno about the rest of you posters but I was not expecting to see a beast this morning when I logged in holy **** that is a beast no doubt seems like it needs a 1000 watt power supply of its own by just looking at the image

If that is the 5970 what can we expect the 5990 to be? 3048 GDDR5? 965 core clock? 4800 memory clock? PCI Express 3.0 maybe?

Anything is possible, PCI Express 3.0 is due out early next year should give a bit more flexibility and breathing room.

I know it sounds cool to use, but it's pretty much impossible to use correctly without it sounding ridiculous (ex. "Some people think dogs are best, some people prefer cats, no doubt you prefer one or the other. Irregardless, your opinion matters, you must choose dog or cat." Whereas 'regardless' would lead to '...Regardless of your choice, both animals make good pets.")

Bah, I can't say it right even when trying XD. Basically, it's being redundant, as you'd be saying 'Not not regardless" (IE: regardFUL, or 'regarding that').

i know that no cards (possibly the 295) use up 8x bandwidth, but is it possible that this card would be able to get close to the x16 mark overclocked?

It's a coined term, not a real word.
Ir- is a negative prefix and adding that to a negative word, such as regardLESS, would make it a double negative in itself. If you can't do it in an entire sentence I doubt it's allowable in a single word.

It doesn't sound cool. I'm not sure how people think it does, but I don't get it. There is no way to use it correctly as it's not even a word.

Back on topic, what a beast. I want one but I dont want to shell out $600 and money for a new power supply lol.

why, what power supply do you use? youd need, a 700 watt for this wouldnt you? it uses less power than a GTX 295.

Great review! I am an Nvidia man, but I am going to seriously look into this card.

Actually, it has been sort of inducted into the dictionary simply because people have been abusing the "made up" word for YEARS. For the record, it should be EITHER irrespective or regardless, both mean the same thing. People (I believe) heard some others using irrespective in a sentence and regardless, and mistakenly combined the two into a word that actually cancels itself out.

Sorry to bump this thread, but are the video cards based upon this dual GPU the best on the market right now? I don't think NVIDIA is coming out with anything that can compete any time soon. But is this Radeon's best right now?

Currently they are the best, but I wouldn't be so quick to judge Nvidias cards that don't exist yet.

Especially when some of the gt200 cards can still compete with the 5XXX series cards.

Nvidia's next generation of cards are due in a few months. I can see a GTX 395 taking the video card throne once it's released.

Okay cool. I am not looking to upgrade and build any time soon. I was just curious what the best card was right this second. The truth is I have always preferred Nvidia to Radeon anyway.
