Although things have improved in the last few years, the age old drawback to dual GPU cards is that not every program is going to work off the bat. An obscure game -- or semi-obscure artificial benchmark, like Furmark -- might not agree with your HD 4850 X2 (or any other dual GPU card, for that matter.)
