Gigabyte GV-R96X128D 9600 XT - PAGE 7
Terren Tong - Wednesday, January 14th, 2004

Halo

The 5700 and R96XT are neck and neck; on all 4 runs they are within 1 FPS of each other so either one of these cards will be nearly the same in Halo. The 5900 again flexes its muscles and really pulls away from the pack.

UT2k3

Did you read the stuff about Halo just at the top of this page? Because what is said here sounds an awful lot like what was said about Halo. The engine behind UT2k3 is the defacto standard for many DirectX based games including Raven Sheild, Splinter Cell and America's Army. The performance between the 5700 and R96XT are very close but the R96XT pulls ahead slightly in the majority of the cases. The 5900 is a bulldozer again plowing over the competition. The framerates at 1024 are fairly close between the three cards and the 5900 really shines with AA/AF. Performance on the R96XT is not bad at all with AA/AF on. It is not really playable at 1600 but does pretty well at 1280.
