This cooler is an exact opposite of its smaller cousin the FAK50. It has an oversized heatsink (one that actually goes over the size of CPU) along with two high-speed (4200 RPM @ 26CFM) fans resting a-top the sink itself blowing air downwards towards the CPU. However, the fins are similar in design to the FAK50 –being there are certain gaps in the 3 rows to allow for better airflow.

The VOS32 cooler also comes with some additional clips for use with an Intel Pentium II or III CPU installation. According to the installation flyer included in the kit –the procedure is rather intense to actually fit the cooler onto the Pentium chips – being the CPU must be completely dismantled in order for it to work. This setup should not scare the avid overclocker away – no, the shear size of this unit is enough to convince even the most doubtful techie to go to the outer-limits of installation hell.

Since I didn’t use an Intel chip in my tests –I can only speculate how involved the installation can actually get –but when

I installed the cooler onto my K7 CPU, I thought I had died and went to simple installation heaven :) The same W bracket is used in the VOS 32 as in the FAK 50 –just a simple snap with a straight screwdriver and the cooler is ready to go. It makes a very tight grip as well –so if you want to get it back off your going to have to work a little harder, but it can be accomplished. The VOS32 kit also includes thermal paste to spread on the CPU just before installation, to help the cooler make good contact with the back of the CPU.

Once installed onto my Abit KA7 motherboard, it fit rather snug –coming close to reaching over the first DIMM slot. But it DID leave enough room for me to still utilize ALL the memory expansion slots –and that’s good because there’s nothing worse that having to sacrifice that precious memory real estate in order to keep the CPU cool!
