Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P Motherboard Review - PAGE 1
Carl Poirier - Friday, July 10th, 2009 Like ShareA little while ago, we took a look at the Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P. Throughout the review, I compared every little difference with the MA790FXT-UD5P that allowed Gigabyte to bring the price down $40. It was easy for me to compare these two motherboards because I had them right in front of me, however for you I am sure it was a bit more difficult!
We judged if the MA790FXT-UD4P was a great board, despite all the features sacrified to bring the cost down. Inversely, are all these features really worth the $40 which brings the cost of the MA790FXT-UD5P up to $180? This is what we will investigate in this article. Also, will it offer a more performance or about the same, as we would think? We will see.

| Note | (Note 1) Due to Windows Vista/XP 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB. (Note 2) A JM322 chip supports two SATA 3Gb/s connectors, so the four SATA 3Gb/s connectors are divided into two pairs: GSATA2_0 and GSATA2_1 as one pair and GSATA2_2, GSATA2_3 as another pair. (Refer to Chapter 2, “Integrated Peripherals” and Chapter 5, “Configuring SATA Hard Drive(s),“ for how to enable the Smart Backup function.) (Note 3) Whether the CPU/system fan speed control function is supported will depend on the CPU/ system cooler you install. (Note 4) Available functions in EasyTune may differ by motherboard model. |

For me, I'm cheap so I like the cheaper board better (since I know I'll probably never do cross-fire or SLI).
YA this board looks pretty good.
For myself, 2 PCIE is certainly enough. Most people I'd say only need 1 slot. No one really needs 3 slots. Getting three video cards isn't really that great of an idea, I'd say. Unless you are building a Folding farm, anyways. Certainly not for the added potential game performance.
I could not agree more
nice board and review
btw when you gonna start folding again?
