William Henning - Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

Why no comparisons to other boards?

The GA-965P-DQ6 is the first Conroe capable motherboard we received; and it was the board we used for our Conroe introduction and review. As such, we had no exact comparisons; but in upcoming Conroe motherboard reviews we will build a database of results so you will see direct comparisons in future articles :)  Meanwhile, just read our Conroe review if you'd like to see how Conroe on this motherboard stacks up to other Intel chips on other motherboards.

Business Winstone

The new BIOS made a 0.1 point difference in Business Winstone; and overclocking the processor to 3.32GHz from 2.67GHz got us 1.6 points - which is actually a fairly large difference for Business Winstone.

Content Creation

The story changes considerably when we get to the Content Creation Winstone. The new BIOS made a whopping 13.8 point difference - a whopping 45% increase in performance!

Overclocking the processor bought us a further 6.8 points, a 15% increase.
