Gigabyte GA-K8VT890-9 - PAGE 8
Terren Tong - Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

Rightmark Sound Tests

The VT8237R supports fewer buffers, 25 instead of the usual 32, so the comparison is not exactly 1:1 between the different platforms.

Processor usage is very low in every single case tested with the RightMark 3DSound utility especially with the 2D streams where it trounces the other boards.

Call of Duty Sound Test

The impressive scores seen in Rightmark also carry over to Call of Duty - the GA-K8VT890-9 captures the top spot when EAX2 and high quality sound is enabled.

MP3 Encoding

Some very tight times for MP3 encoding with LAME 3.90.1. The Gigabyte K8T890 board manages to shave a few seconds over a period of 15 minutes.

XViD Encoding

There is a bit more variation in video encoding than what was seen in MP3 encoding but not a lot. Both are still heavily biased towards processor speed more than anything else but the GA-K8VT890-9 again manages to knock three seconds off of the time set by the nF4 Ultra board.
