The Blue Storm being a new-comer to our lab, made me a tad apprehensive about its potential performance, but after taking a good, close look at the product, and having it in use in the lab for a few weeks with many different hardware configurations, I can say with absolute certainty that the Blue Storm AX500-A power supply is a top-notch performer suitable for any enthusiast or regular user.
At no point in my testing or usage did I witness any instability, and at no point in my testing was I concerned about any of the readings I was seeing. Noise level was also of no concern. FSP Group can rest assured that they have put together a product that can comfortably be used in a silent-PC environment, as the 120 mm fan was basically inaudible at anywhere past 10 centimeters. I actually had to get my head right up close to the fan to hear its faint whirring.
The Blue Storm is very solidly built, and is quite an attractive piece of equipment. Blue just happens to be my favourite color, and the blue sparkly casing of this power supply caught my interest right away. The unit is very heavy and feels as if it were one entire, solid unit, as opposed to components encased in metal. The casing of the power supply does not give or rattle at any point. The rear of the power supply has a very large and free-flowing grill, allowing it to dispel hot air taken in by the 120 mm fan.
Being non-moddable, the Blue Storm does have a rather large collection of cabling, but due to the extremely neat organization and clean-cut mesh and heat-shrink tubing, it is easy to route around the chassis as well as tuck away whatever you don't need.
The low-down is that if I were in the market for a non-moddable power supply that could give my system the power boost that it needed, I probably wouldn't look past the FSP Blue Storm AX500-A.
