EVGA GeForce 6800 GS Review - PAGE 8

Overclocking

We had quite high expectations as far as overclocking goes for this card, and whaddya know, it met them! In short, the 6800 GS offers overclockers an amazing value proposition. Our card reached 512 MHz on the core! This is nearly a 100 MHz overclock for a chip that is already clocked quite high.

On the memory side, we topped out at 1151 MHz without artifacting or stability issues. Both of these are impressive feats and suprisingly, the card did not reach unbearably hot temperatures. We decided to run our office fan over the test system to alleviate potential problems, but good case cooling should keep the card relatively cool even while overclocked.
