Epox 8HDA5+ Review - PAGE 1

EpoX 8HDA5+

A couple of years ago, EpoX motherboards were highly sought after for their performance, to the point that they were imported from other countries when 'local' online stores went out of stock. One of my fellow reviewers here at Neoseeker still raves about the 8RDA+, his vision of a near perfect motherboard. It's rare to see that kind of commitment to a brand anymore, and EpoX wants to generate that kind of excitement again.

Today we have the 8HDA5+ Powerpack package for review, which is an Athlon 754 motherboard based on VIA's K8T800 chipset. The Via K8T800 is the fastest performing Athlon 64 chipset around (at least until the nVidia 3 250 Gb and K8T880 chipsets are readily available for purchase).

For first generation Athlon64 748 chipsets, many manufacturers prefer the K8T800 over the nForce 3 150 due to the slightly better performance and superior feature set on the southbridge. It's been a long time since we've even seen an EpoX board, so let's see if EpoX's offering is better than the competition.
