OpenGL Game Benchmarks
We have two contrasting pictures with Call of Duty and Jedi Knight 2. Call of Duty shows exceptional performance by the overclocked mobile 2500+ and DFI LanParty. Jedi Knight 2 has the Athlon 3400+ clearly int he lead. Regardless, in both cases we see huge performance jumps by the overclocked 2500+ over the the stock solution. Nvidia claimed that there would be big performance differences in 3 areas due to an optimized AGP driver - workstation applications, OpenGL games and finally Direct3D games. The differences would be most pronounced with the 250Gb based board paired with a fast video card. We can surmise that Jedi Knight 2 benefits greatly from the AGP driver improvements or that Jedi Knight 2 is memory bandwidth depedent. Remember the results that we obtained from PCMARK04 where the Athlon 64 dominated the Barton XP.
D3D Shooters
Halo performance on the LanParty and overclocked 2500+ comes within roughly 6% of the Athlon 64.
In UT2k4, we see pretty significant performance differences between the Barton and the Athlon 64. We suspect that Unreal is again more dependent on memory bandwidth and takes advantage of the low latency offered by the Athlon 64's onboard memory controller.
Other D3D Games
With Commanche4 we see the same scenario as UT2k4 and Jedi Knight 2. The performance of the DFI LanParty and the Mobile 2500+ are excellent in X2.
