I remember long ago, a distinct moment, when I decided to stay away from water cooling. I had the chance of picking up a custom built water cooling loop for fairly cheap. I finally came to the conclusion that since I often change hardware on my test setup, using water cooling would have been too much of a hassle. My reasoning was that with my regular hardware changes, a high-end heatsink would be easier to work with -- and if I ever needed better cooling, I might as well go all the way and use liquid nitrogen.
However, what if you could have the simplicity of an air cooler, but with the advantages of a liquid-cooling system? That's where CoolIT Systems comes into play. This company specializes in sealed liquid cooling systems, which don't need all the maintenance of a custom water loop. However, can such systems rival with custom water loops, or at least beat high-end heatsinks? That's what we will explore in this article. The CoolIT Domino A.L.C., for Advanced Liquid Cooling, with its 120mm fan and radiatior, will battle against one of the best heatsinks available on the market: the Cooler Master V8.
