Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply - PAGE 5
J. Micah Grunert - Monday, February 26th, 2007

Perhaps there is something to be said for sheer simplicity. The Corsair HX620W supply may not be the biggest power plant on the market today, but from what I experienced, I quite liked it.

It's quiet for one, a very big plus since I can't name a soul that likes a loud computer. It's reliable, and having a power supply that can deliver clean and solid current across all of it's rails is important. The construction is top notch,so you know that this box is going to last. And finally, it's simple, and believe it or not when I say not everybody wants a chrome finish with flashing LEDs, just give me a supply that will keep my system running smoothly for years.  This is also the first power supply we've seen with a very nice, muted "charcoal" like finish.  The pictures don't do this justice.  If you're tired of the shiny PSUs your friends all have and want something that stands out, this might just do the trick.

There are the few negatives, such as the fact that it's only a 620W PSU in a time of 700W plus power supplies.  However, like I mentioned, Corsair is being conservative compared to some of its competitors, and we had absolutely no problems with our high end gaming rig: you can easily build a near state of the art gaming system with 7900GTX SLI/X1950XTX CrossFire, plenty of drives, healthy overclocking, and you couldn't ask for a better supply.

Retailing for around $130 to $150 bucks USD (shop around for the best deal) the Corsair HX620W is one of the better power supplies out there today.
