Test Setup
One note about the drivers, both Nvidia and ATI have provided us with only Beta drivers for testing, which means that each card's ability to complete all of the tests was significantly lowered. We ran into issues with Call of Duty 2, Doom 3 as well as Splinter Cell while running Shader Model 3. Usually the tests would not complete or the artifacting was so severe that we couldn't consider the results.
As of today, Nvidia has released 81.85 drivers which we will be testing, but we didn't have time to run through the entire benchmark set again.
Its important to note that we're using a 6600GT in our benchmarks, but the X1300 Pro was not intended to go head to head against the 6600GT. We don't have easy access to a 6600 vanilla so bear in mind that the GT has a performance advantage because it is a midrange card. However, the comparisons are still on the whole valid because the X1300 $149 MSRP is just about where the low range of the 6600GT's street prices are at right now.
Our test system consisted of the following:
AMD 3700 (Sandiego core) @ 2.7GHz (9 x 300 HT Frequency)
OCZ PC 5000 and PC 4800 memory running at 2.5-4-4-8
DFI LanParty nF4 SLI-DR motherboard
DFI LanParty nF4 Ultra-D motherboard
Western Digital 120 GB Harddrives.
